AKV Value studio

Hey Bobbiwoz thanks for your report. Do you happen to have any pictures of the valus studio or the view from the b alcony?

Hi Bobbi,
How would you describe the pool and hot tubs? Similar to WL? What other things around the lodge would you recomend to do? We wil be doing a split stay of 3 night at AKV then to BCV for 5 nights, with kids of 6 and 2.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Merry Christmas,
Chris

Thanks so much for starting this thread Bobbiwoz! We leave today for a week stay in one of the value studios at AKV and I've been wondering what to expect.

I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and post when I return next week. That is if I can figure out how to post the pictures LOL!!:goodvibes

not Bobbi - but the pool is about twice the size of WL. did not pay attention to the slides - but it definitely had a slide.

there were two hot tubs one of each side of the pool. went in sept, so didn't even do the hot tubs.

really enjoyed the pool! It does not seem that big until you are in it. Guess it is the landscaping?

Thanks so much for your report. I was wondering about value studio reports also. In order to compare, I'm staying in a value view, standard view, and savannah view studios all in one trip-lots of moving around! I'm especially glad to hear that you got to see the savanah from the value view. What animals did you see?

Hope you don't mind me asking, but when will you be taking this trip. Can't wait to hear what you come up with!!

Last Sunday morning, the pool temperature was perfect for swimming...no hesitation about going in, for me at least.

There are lots of activities associated with the animals. I know there was an activity involving making an ostrich egg tree ornament that seemed to be offered daily. There are storytelling times around the campfire. I need longer vacations if I'm/we're going to do these activities. I am a VWL "groupie" and have yet to find/make the time to take the "Wonders of the Lodge" tour with Ranger Stan.

However, at AKV, I like to chat with the CM's from Africa who are just around waiting to talk to you. I've learned a lot and had fun with these informal chats!

I didn't try the hot tub at AKV, but it looked inviting!

Thanks Bobbi. Like I said, it's possible this floor plan is reversed. I've seen at least one other that appeared to be reversed (based on the fact that all the text on the floor plan was also reversed!) so it does happen.

Is it possible they just decided there just isn't enough room in the living area to put the door and moved them all to the entry way? Or is there utilities or something else in the "boxed off" area....

As you already noticed there is a rectangle with a large "X" in it in the area where the connecting door would normally be. In every case where the floor plan shows the connecting door in the living area rather than the entry way, there is one of those "structural elements" as I call them that prevented them from putting the connecting door in the normal location.

I've also seen them in the corner of the bathroom of some 1BRs and in that case those bathrooms have only one sink instead of two. I don't know what they are but it appears they had to work around them in the conversion.

Our value studio did have 2 sinks, and a nice ledge to put things on. I liked the value, just wonder how much I would like it with a parking lot view. It's really a tough call for me, and I suppose for lots of other people too!

Unfortunately, I'm not taking this trip until late April into May. It should be so cool though-lots of hanging out around the resort-I can't wait!

I'm trying to understand where the missing 50 sq ft is in the value rooms. Is it in the closet? Storage areas? Is the room itself where the bed and sofa smaller?

I just returned from a pool view dedicated value studio. The bed was also by the balcony. It was a little weird, but I prefer it that way.

When we checked in on Sunday we basically had very little view of the pool. I was going to take a picture because you could not see the pool through the tree that was there. Tuesday morning I was at the sink brushing my teeth and my husband yelled at me to come here. He had opened the door to the balcony and the tree was completely gone. I guess we are sound sleepers because we didn't hear them running a chain saw right outside our patio door.

I have some good pictures of the room that I will post tomorrow. Basically the couch is about 2 inches from the wall, then the 1 nightstand, the bed, and then just enough room for one of the little coffee tables. I believe this is the reason the bed and couch are switched. I think they didn't want to put the couch right against the patio door and you certainly don't want the bed right against the wall.

I like the location of our room. I like being just a short elevator ride from the pool. I don't like walking through the lobby in my bathing suit. We were also very close to the bus stops and close to the main elevators too.

I would definitely stay in a value room again but it is just 2 adults and (1) 3 year old.

The rooms are the same width. The difference is in the length of the room, specifically the living/sleeping area of each room type. Here are side by side comparisons of floor plans for a Jambo House studio, and the living area and master bedroom of a 1BR showing how a Value villa compares to the non-Value. As you can see the bathrooms and kitchen areas are identical. The difference is the length of the living/sleeping areas.

I am so excited looking at these pictures! We will be in a Savannah View studio for 11 days next summer....can't wait!!

Here is the view from room 5020. It was very nice. There is also a photo of them cutting down the tree that was blocking the view.
