AKV Value even cheaper now

Maybe something to do with the new ‘ paid for’ concierge at Copper Creek. Maybe the prices for that will be so outrageously high ($50+ a day) they didnt want people saying it was a rip off, as it only costs x points at AKL.

I'm not entirely sure this was done due to demand. Makes more sense if they were just trying to make concierge "pay for itself".

Perhaps the initial points premium for club level didn't fully cover the share of concierge amenities the Hotel side charges to DVC. Maybe DVC is just trying to avoid having all the non-concierge villas subsidize concierge services. It's a theory!

I agree with this theory. DVC must have to pay $ to the hotel side in exchange for concierge privileges for guests of those DVC villas, just as DVC pays $ to DCL for members who use points to pay for cruises. Point reallocations are not limited to purposes of adjusting demand.

While that may be true, but by decreasing point requirement for value villas, it further drives up demand for that category. Thus, DVD will, at least in theory, need to address that.

I really like the idea of limiting the number of adjustments to a reservation to a practical number.
The idea of people walking a popular date for months ahead of time is crazy. Starting the process of walking in the summer for a Christmas or New Years room just seems unfair even if it is allowed.
I like the idea of being able to modify reservations on line instead of calling but not if it means even more "walking" by other members.

IMO, no reasonable reallocation is going to change the demand for value villas enough to make a difference.

As long as DVC doesn't see a pattern of nights that consistently aren't getting booked, there's not much of an incentive to reallocate. When DVC reallocated between weekend and week nights, there were a lot of weekend nights that were consistently going unbooked for points. That was a problem for the system as a whole and that is what drove the reallocation.

A lot of demand at 11 months for a booking category that contains a small number of units doesn't necessarily mean a reallocation is in order. The system really doesn't care which members get a particular villa or that the booking system is completely "fair" to all (whatever "fair" means). DVC makes decisions based on what is best for the system as a whole.
