What's the best way to get from Kidani Village to SSR for dinner at Turf Club? Another option is to go from DHS to SSR, but easiest to get back to Kidani?
I would consider using DTD as the transfer point as it is within walking distance of SSR. Take the bus from AKV to DTD Marketplace, then follow the path to SSR. It will bring you out near the Congress Park bus stop. From there you can take the internal bus (assuming there is one or that one of the park buses can be used for that purpose) or walk to the main building from there. Reverse the process on the way back.
Otherwise, I would get on the DHS or Epcot bus (whichever one comes first) and use that park as a transfer point either way.

Yep. On the map above the C on the left is the Turf Club, the F areas on the right are the Congress Park area and the little people in circles on the edge by Congress Park show where the paths to DTD are.

I've learned the hard way that it is a MAJOR time drain to use Disney transportation to go from resort to resort unless you're talking monorail resort to monorail resort or Crescent lake resort to Crescent Lake resort. I generally try to avoid making ADRs at another resort but the rare time I do, I'll take a cab. Getting around WDW you can save time or you can save money, you can't do both.
Seriously, take a cab.
If you're already at DHS (or any other park for that matter) then it's very easy to take a bus directly from there.
Sounds like it makes more sense to go to SSR after a Fantasmic night (6:30 pm). Then to DTD to walk off the dinner and direct return straight to Kidani.
Trying to avoid the cab situation since it gets complicated with the carseat issue (we're not planning on bringing) with our DS3.

i would take the bus from DHS to SSR, enjoy dinner, take the boat back to DTD, stroll through DTD to walk off dinner, and then the bus back to AKL... sounds like an enjoyable evening to me

Kidani to SSR (by the way, there's a thread for this - getting around Walt Disney World ): Bus to Downtown Disney, exit at Marketplace, walk straight past Art of Disney and Rainforest Cafe to boat dock, boat to SSR, walkway up to Turf Club.
SSR to Kidani: reverse - walk down ramp to boat dock, boat to Downtown Disney Marketplace, walk across plaza to bus stop keeping RFC and Art of Disney on your left, to buses. Bus to Kidani.
Sounds logical if we're coming from our hotel, but we're actually finishing up Fantasmic from DHS that night so the bus to SSR would work. Besides, eating a heavy meal would require burning it off to breathe comfortably. Strolling through DTD would take care of that...THEN bus it back to Kidani.
