With a studio only running 85 points for a week in early June or late Aug, how hard are these to get?

I would imagine that these would have to be booked at the 11 month mark.
Talk about stretching you points!

That's a hard question to answer - we really don't have enough experience (IMHO) to answer that question. IIRC, the first DVC stays at the AKV began last July.

Most here believe the value category will sell out before the savanna view or standard categories, but really, it's just a guess.

The studio going for 83 points in Dream season is a value studio. There are only a small amount of these. They are located on the Giraffe and Ostrich trail at the front of the lodge. They are smaller than the other AKV studios. Just as wide, but about 3' shorter in length.

Because of their low point cost, they will likely be in high demand, so I think they will be more difficult to get at 7 months.

I got one for October at the 7 month mark - I called right at 9am day by day and got it - I thought maybe I was being silly calling day by day - but the last day at 9am I snagged the last available one according to MS so I'd definitely do it day by day.

We got one at 7 months for April. I've got AKV points, and personally speaking, I use them to reserve the savanna-view - which matters more to me and I'd be more heartbroken not to get.

I don't think you can predict future availability of the Value rooms based on past experience. The number of AKV owners and AKV points in circulation is going to triple? quadruple? over the next few years but the number of Value villas is fixed at the current number since these rooms are limited to Jambo House only. Many DVC members like to conserve points so the Value rooms could prove to be very popular with owners and as the number of owners increases, I expect there will be fewer Value villas left 7 months out.

I got a Value Studio at AKV at the 7 month mark for a trip April 9-20th

I got a value studio for 4 of my 6 nights for my June 7-13th reservation when I booked it the beginning of this month.I was so suprised and then when they made my reservation I used developer points to make it and I had to get SSR resort for 2 nights in the middle, well I got a call from my guide day before yesterday and she told me that someone from the department that handles the developer points called and told her they got my other 2 days.
So we are super excited about it and cannot wait.

No doubt that it will get harder and harder in the future as more DVC's buy in.

But still, for those who way to streeeeetch their points.

We booked a value studio for July 25 & 26 in January and were waitlisted for the 23 & 24. Our waitlist just came through last week, so we are all set. Waitlists do work !!!! By the way, it is a dedicated value studio which gives you either a Sunset savanah or pool view (only 8 dedicated value studios available).

I agree! This past year has not been a good barometer for the booking windows, since NO ONE could book ANYTHING before May last year. This year, with AKV membership rising and a significant number of rooms not available for occupancy, I think it could be more difficult.

I got one at the 7 month mark for May. I am not sure it will continue but I am very happy. I also got one after the 7 month mark for June.. that was a waitlist that came through. I am so excited.

I got a value lockoff studio for July 19-25 for our 21 yo DS who decided to join us on our trip this year - we were already booked with my sister's family in a 2 Bedroom Savannah View. I think I booked about a month ago so it was definitely long after the 7 month mark. I was originally waitlisted for one of the nights, 7/22, and had DS moving to OKW for the night but the waitlist came through about a week later. I would've preferred a savannah view but the value category was the only thing available.

WE DID!!

We got to spend Christmas week at AKV Dec. 20 - 26.
We had a great room!! Room 5401

(SSR is our home resort).

**Edited to add: DH says we booked a "value" studio...but when we got there, they gave us a Standard.

My DVC member that I rent points from just got me 2 nights at AKL value standard studio room for October! I was just sure that there would not be anything left for the value rooms, but there was!

I can't wait! We will be staying just a couple nights after our cruise and so this is perfect!

She did call at exactly 7 months out and at 9:00am like one of the previous posters had said.

I booked my late August vacation the end of January. At the time, only SSR was available, and I was put on a waitlist for AKV, savannah view. My waitlist came through in February.
