What the heck?!?!

I was just looking at the 2011 Points chart for AKV, where we are considering getting a grand villa for my 40th next year. And right there in black and white, it lists "Standard View" as an option for the Grand Villas. They have never offered this in the past - all Grand Villas have been Savannah View. Are you telling me that they would actually build a Grand Villa WITHOUT a view of the savannah? Does anyone else think this is ludicrous?

Someone please explain this to me. I'm so confused.

These are 2 that face the fenced area at the north end of Kidani (there are ~40+ 2br equivelents that were changed from sv to st in this area also this year (along wiht a couple that face the value rooms at Jambo). That is why the points went up an avarage to 1 pt/night on the average.

I would think that will now be the hardest grand villa to get of them all. Cheap points and really not such a bad view. I would imagine AKV members will snatch them right up.

Just to confuse things a bit, I was told by the front desk at Kidani that the Standard View GV is one of the two that face the Pembe Savanna, about 2/3s of the way down the north wing. One of those GVs directly faces the narrowest part of Pembe where it is only about 50 feet deep. The view from that GV would be of 50 feet of savanna with a fence, road and a hill behind it. Not a nice view based on what I could see from the adjacent viewing window. I was told (though the CM seemed a little unsure) that the other Pembe-facing GV was classified as Savanna View because it is angled away a bit from the narrow part of Pembe and has a better savanna view.

This conflicts with info from MS that indicates there are two Std View GVs at the end of the north wing. Since those GVs appear to have a pretty decent savanna view, I think the info from the front desk is more likely to be correct, at least about the location. Not sure who to believe about whether there are two or just one!

Can you imagine the competition for ONE standard view Grand Villa!?

Not that we have enough points to ever think about it, but I imagine it would feel like winning the lottery if we got that reservation for a week:goodvibes.

So we could really call it a Partial Savanna view GV.
If it is the one the CM at the front desk indicated it isn't a pretty view but you will see some animals. Animals would have to walk through that sliver of savanna to get from one side of Pembe to the other. The day I went to look for the Pembe GVs, I saw an okapi hanging out right next to the fence in that narrow section for about an hour.

If I get to see some animals and pay for a std. view, I would be happy. On the other hand, I would not be happy if I paid for a savanna view and got that villa.
