I have a very strange question. Maybe someone will be able to help me out here. I have asthma and something has got me a little worried. Does anyone here know if they use strong deodorizers in the rooms? I have trouble with perfumy smells. I sure hope they don't. For the second part of our trip we will be in concierge so they tell me there is daily housekeeping then so if they do I will ask them not to use any but sometimes it is already just obsorbed into the room. Can anyone tell me what I can expect? I know sometimes if it doesn't affect a person it's hard to notice. But if you have noticed and you can give me any info ! Thanks a bunch!:)

Hi!
We spent Dec. 20 -26, 2007 at AKV.
We did not notice any kind of scent in the room, so you would probably be ok. I have the keenest sense of smell of anyone I know.

I have the same problem, and I have never noticed anything like that in ANY DVC villa we have stayed in. I have been known to spend the night in the car traveling across country simply because I could not tolerate the scenting agents in a hotel room.

We have a similar issue and did not have a problem at AKV in December. We were offerred a room at BWV where it was heavily scented with deodorizer. We went back to the desk and were assigned another room. The first location was much better but the second room was much more livable for us.

My son has asthma & we avoid chemicals and perfumes like the plague. We stayed there in December & had no problems :thumbsup2

have them note on your room reservation, that you have allergies/asthma, and have it mentioned " no room deoterizers to be used in room".
Of course have them repeat what they typed in, and we always verify it with a follow up call.

May want to leave a note in the room too, just as a reminder. When we stayed in the regular disney rooms, sometimes they did spray deoterizers in the room.

If you are allergic to the scent on the sheets, you can request them be washed in unscented laundry detergent. All depends on how sensitive you are, and what was sprayed.

If you are sensitive to certain cleaners they can work with you on that issue too.

Just remember it does take longer to prep a room if you have any special items that need to be taken care of, at least that is what we've experienced.

Also, don't unpack until you have verified everything you requested is done.
You may need to go back or call the front desk to get things corrected.

Thank you to everyone for your help. This has been on my mind for quite awhile. Now I feel so much better. I did not know about the sheet washing thing either. We stayed at the Pop before and never had no trouble but I was only concerned because we went to tour AKL last October and there was only one area of the halls that we found heavily scented so that got me wondering about the rooms. But it sounds like I should be okay. Once again thanks for the replies. I didn't know if I should ask such a silly question but now I am glad I did!:yay:
