AKV Room Configurations

I know this has been mentioned in the past, but I can't find it.
Are the 1 bedrooms that have 2 baths going to be in the existing lodge or new lodge? Also, will there be values in the new lodge or only existing?
I do remember that concierge will only be in the old lodge.

I don't think that there has been any confirmation that there will be 1BRs with 2 BA at the AKV. If they are converting 3 deluxe rooms in the current building to a 2BR lockoff, they may keep the 3rd bath and squeeze in a kitchen or they may gut the 3rd bath to allow space for the kitchen. All of the 1BR and 2 BR will have a full kitchen.

The only thing confirmed in writing is that most of the 1BRs will sleep 5. It appears that a sleeper chair will be part of the furniture in the MB or LR to accomodate the 5th person.

My guess is that all of the value rooms will be in the current buidling. Since the value rooms are supposed to be smaller than the other rooms, it makes sense that they are rooms converted from a previous use and not rooms in a newly constructed building. In the current building, it looks like there could be as many as 46 dedicated value studios (located throughout the 5th floor) and possibly 4 2BR value lockoffs converted from standard size rooms on the 5th floor overlooking the parking lot.

I've been a little frustrated with the lack of information from DVC (including my guide).

Good analysis Suzanne. I was wondering about the comment below. I see you are thinking there will be 12 rooms worth of parking lot view villas. I why you are thinking 12? From the outline of the DVC lease (sorry I forgot the document name, but you probably know what I mean) it looked like about 6 rooms to me. Did you gather more information?

Lisa: In one of the most recent maps, there are 6 standard rooms overlooking the parking lot on the far west end (Ostrich Trail) and an additional 6 rooms overlooking the parking lot that appear to open into the hallway above the lobby. On another map, only the Ostrich Trail parking view rooms are shown and on still another earlier map, neither of these blocks of rooms are shown.

My guess is that originally NO parking view rooms were to be included in DVC because these were all standard size rooms, not deluxe. But this meant that there would be no value priced 2BR lockoffs, so they carved up the parking view rooms on the 5th floor and leased enough to DVC (12 total) for 4 2BRs.

Just my thoughts based on the changing maps (which themselves may not be correct because one of legal descriptions says the lease is for "the 5th floor," not a "portion of the 5th floor").

There is probably someone at DVC right now at how wrong my guesses are!

It sure would be nice if DVC would just publish the room configurations!!!

I asked my guide about the room configurations and he said DVC kept a lot of the info private even from them so the information is not quite out there yet. I found out there should be models at SSR for us to see and there should also be some info there regarding AKV. I don't go back "home" until late April so others may post with info before I do but I will post info if I find something new when I go. I was surprised because I had all the info I needed for VWL when they made the announcement to open.

Just speculation here but I think the 1BRs with 2 baths will be in the new building. The 1BRs in the Lodge will be smaller than the ones in the new building, so there probably isn't enough space to put in a second bathroom.

My guide just told me today that there would be ALL CATAGORIES of rooms in all phases of contruction. I'm not convinced that is true though. I don't see there being CC rooms in the new building.

I just can't believe that there's so many categories of rooms for ALL the sizes. It would seem like a booking nightmare for Member Servies to me.

I, too, have some doubts. If they were to include CC in the new annex, wouldn't that become an "expected" category in all future DVC resorts? By keeping it only in the Lodge, it can be justified as something unique to AKV, similar to the two separate categories in BW, standard and BW view.
For sure, if CC's a new trend for DVCs, there'll be a major brohouha for retro-fitting the existing ones! furious
