AKV Review w/ concierge info and PICS

It is nice to see a great review on AKL...I'm trying to decide if we are going to stay at AKL or BWV next May for our anniversary trip. So far I have the studio SV room booked and we are on the waitlist for concierge.

Enjoying your post very much...do you have pictures of food other than breakfast. We have a concierge studio scheduled Dec 14-19 and again on May 24-30.

YES!! I have pictures and descriptions of the food at all times of the day!! I will be updating tomorrow. I'm glad everyone is enjoying my review so far :). I will also be doing a mini-review of the Sunrise Safari - it was sooooo wonderful!!

great review thanks for sharing, can't wait to read more

Thanks for posting the review. It's great to be able to see and hear what someone else's experience was like. BTW...the pic of your DD"s sleeping was just precious! I have many like that of my own kids. A day at Disney will do that to you! ;)

Thanks for the pictures! It's great when someone takes the time to inform everyone on the DIS :goodvibes I'll be trying to book a concierge 1BR for next August at our 11 month window in September -- now I know what I'll be missing if it's not available :sad1: Crossing my fingers.

I don't think you mentioned it (or maybe I missed it)...did you do one of the special safaris??

We were in the same room as you, we checked out on July 8th(we also had the one bedroom 6402 next door)!!!! You are right the view and location are amazing. I am glad you had a great trip. My DD slept on the same pullout as your DD's and she thought the same about it, it was a little uncomfortable. I think the pullout in the 1 BR side was a little more comfortable. My DS(9) also agreed with your DD about the slide;), he said it wasn't as much fun as the one at BCV's. Our room was spotless when we checked in but they usually didn't come until around 3-4 pm to clean our room and I was wondering if you got nightly turndown service? We didn't our first and last nights there.:confused3 Is this normal? It wasn't a big deal to us though. We really enjoyed the concierge lounge, esp. being so close to it. I am glad to hear you had a good time!

We checked into 6402 on the 8th!! Myself, DW, & 2 DD 15 & 8. We all loved it. My oldest daughter to the pullout & had the 8 year old sleep on the pull out chair. The room was great, but i hear you about the turn down service. Seemed like they had just made the bed then wanted to turn it down an hour later. Didnt matter us though. We loved the convenience of the room. Although the elevator dinging did get annoying early in the morning.

One of the concierge people were from our home town of Rochester, NY so it was nice to tell him about how things had been back home. They were all very helpful. But i dont understand why you cant tip the people that clear the plates & put all the food out.

My biggest suggestion would be make sure you want to do DDP if you are staying on concierge. We are not big eaters at all. So it seemed like we were forced to eat at the sit downs. I have done ddp for the last 4 years. I could of just done a quick bite down at the Mara.

We have some picture i can post at another time. TTFN

Mid-day snacks served 11:00 - 3:00

Drink station - lemonade, tea, & African smoothie; they also had large bottles of Perrier that you could pour into a glass but not take with you.

Spiced nuts
Trail mix
Kettle chips
Whole fruits - apples, oranges, bananas
Gummy bears
Goldfish
Banana chips
Granola Bars
Cookies (large) - white chocolate macadamia nut & chocolate chip
