AKV or WVL - I just don't know

Here is our game plan...

January 9 -11, 2008 - studio at either Animal Kingdom or Wilderness Villas

then move to OKW one bedroom until the 18th

So what do you think - Animal Kingdom or Wilderness??

Background info - it's just me (28) and DH (30). We haven't stayed at either the WLV or AKL. We did stay at WL conceirge for a few days last year, it wasn't that great IMHO but I won't hold that against the WLV. We've never stayed at OKW either.

My personal choice would be VWL, HOWEVER since you've already stayed there and have not stayed at AKL, I voted for AKL.

I voted AKV because there is SO Much to do and see without ever leaving the resort. We love it there. Of course, we also really LOVE OKW too! That is my perfect WDW vacation...a few days at AKV followed by a week in an OKW 1 or 2 bedroom.

I'm leaning towards Animal Kingdom Lodge as well, we've never been there

Do you already have a reservation? That's marathon time and studios often go quickly to the members who are runners.

I would probably stay at VWL. Lots of stuff to do around the resort, and it's a boat ride to Contemporary/Monorail/Magic Kingdom. But, the main reason I would choose VWL over AKV right now is the construction. I have a reservation at VWL for Aug and had waitlisted at AKV. I called about a month or so ago and took my name off the list after what I had read on the boards. It's not horrible by any means, but I'm in no hurry to stay there, and waiting a visit or two won't make a difference.

Both are beautiful resorts, though. You can't go wrong.

I voted for AKV.

I own at VWL and was very disappointed with our stay there in April 08. Sofa bed was horrible. We had a cupboard full of dirty dishes in our one bedroom and my parents had a full trash can and no soap when they checked into their studio.

I'm not even booking VWL 11 months out for our '09 trip ... I'm trying something different at 7 months out. It really kills the magic when you spend the first 3 hours of your vacation trying to get someone to take care of the cheese smeared plates, crusty forks and greasy coffee mugs in your cupboard ... I didn't buy into DVC to wash a previous guests dirty dishes!

Best way to resolve those types of problems is to call Housekeeping or Maintenance directly. But the sleeper sofas haven't been replaced yet as far as I know at VWL.

I would pick WLV because of construction at AKV....I have never stayed at AKL yet....I don't want the 1st time to have construction.
