I am planning a possible surprise trip for my family in September. I have a few options but these two seem to be the best

I can book a AKV 1 br for 4 nights or a 1 br at SSR for 3 nights without having to barrow or pay 1 time purchase points.

we really like SSR because its close to DTD and we really enjoy the pools there, but the points being so low at AKV seems great. We only stayed AKV once ina studio and the hotel seemed kind of big. We aren't a fan of AK and we don't go to that park more than once usually for a few hours per stay

I could barrow and add on two points and stay the full 4 nights at SSR but I was hoping to not have to do that.

TIA

Are you talking standard view at AKV?
(Not the smaller value rooms at Jambo?)

Kidani 1BR are much nicer than SSR. You get a huge master bathroom and there is a 2nd full bathroom, too.

Kidani has a good pool with slide, and a great splash area for younger kids.
Kidani also has most of its parking under the resort (nice being out of the sun and rain)

But, there is no QS at Kidani (need to take the 10-15 min walk to Jambo or take a bus or shuttle van) and there is no breakfast TS, either.

Kidani halls are also the longest on property.

I would avoid Jambo for a 1BR because its layout is sub-standard compared to SSR.

Its possible that Kidani may not be perfect for your family, but I think its worthwhile trying all resorts during the years you own DVC.

BTW, have you checked out OKW, it still has boat transportation to DTD and is generally fewer points than SSR.

Yes I have tried OKW, but didn't see anything much available. It would be kind of tough for us with a stroller too incase we get a 2nd floor room since there are no elevators. I would like to try kadani because the rooms looks huge and really nice

You can't really go wrong with either! I agree with your observation that AKV is a big resort, however, so is SSR. You could end up in a convenient location or not so convenient at either one. Both have nice pool areas with zero depth entry pools that are great for young kids. I think you may be able to get counter service food at the pool at Kidani Village (Its been a couple of years, so I'm not positive about that) and Jambo house has a good counter service restaurant plus Boma, which is really good. There are definitely more food options nearby at SSR, but my son loves AKV for the animals.
Although my personal preference is SSR, I would take 4 nights at Disney over 3 nights regardless of which resort :)

An extra night is an extra night. I only stayed at akv once and it is gorgeous. The location just isn't the most convenient.but with a whole extra day, you will more than make up for a couple long bus rides.
