Hi all-looking for some advice. We are planning a trip for October. We are currently booked in a 1BR at our home resort of AKV. Originally travelers were going to be me, DH, and DD12. Last night, we decided to bring my DH's DS 12 as well. We had wanted to switch to WLV when it was just the 3 of us, but now with 4 we wouldn't be able too. (only has pull out couch in living room-we need couch and sleep chair.)

So, should we stay with AKV or try someplace new like OKW. Pros/cons? How do the pools compare? Both kids are really into the waterslides.

Thanks in advance for any help with this decision!

For me, I like OKW because of the larger rooms, appearance, and feel of the resort, which probably means nothing to the kids. If the pool is your only selection criteria, then I would choose AKV at Kidani. This is because, in my opinion, the slide and play area is better and mych more attractive and fun for the kids.

True that the water play area is great at AKV/Kidani, but the slide isn't much, and the OKW slide is second only to the one at Beach Club. Still, I would stay with your AKV reservation if for no other reason than the extra bathroom. At OKW, you will only have one bathroom, but at AKV, you will have two, and that would be the deciding factor for me with two 12 year olds in tow.

Our teen girls did not like OKW because they felt it did not have a "Disney" feel to it. It was winter so we didn't go to the pool.

They did, however, love AKV Kidani because of the animals. We would return to the rooms early to watch the animals feed off our balcony.

AKV has the extra bathroom and the sleeper chair so the girls did not have to sleep together.

The pool was adequate, but fairly crowded and there's a nice slide.

We really did not notice that it was a long trip to the parks or back to the resort. We usually don't come back to the resort during the day so it wasn't that important for us.

We own at OKW, and have stayed there for many years. Our children our 13 and 6. The last 2 yrs, we let them choose, and they chose AKV. They enjoy watching the animals, and all the activities.

We love both resorts, but would choose AKV Kidani because of the second bathroom.

Having stayed at both with 2 teenage girls and a 10yo boy plus a 5 yo boy, I would recommend AKV. The extra bathroom in the 2bdrm really made a big difference for the kids. And the animals were such a draw I am not sure I can convince them to go anywhere else next time. We were only able to spend a short amount of time at the pool at AKV but it was a blast for the boys. The OKW pool, however, is always a ton of fun, but there aren't any animals. :goodvibes
