Is there a separate laundry room for the DVC studios or is it the one for the main lodge? If it is separate - where is it located? There is no info in the member packet and the CM at the desk just pointed out the regular one. Thanks to anyone who can give me an answer.

It's on the 5th floor on the Zebra Trail just off the lobby, right next to room 5408. You will need your room key to get into the laundry room.

Thanks - we have been using the elevator near our room 5503 so didn't get that far down the hallway until today.

Is there a charge to use this one? I ended up going downstairs to the one by Simba's playhouse, first floor I believe and had to pay $2 a load and $2 for the dryer. I couldn't find any information either so I just ended up here.

No charge for the DVC washers and dryers. They do look like they take coins, but you don't put need to put any in.

I also didn't think it was well marked. I had to go on a bit of a hunt. No charge like the other DVC resorts.

And the front loaders take FOREVER to cycle at AKV. The signage says something like 30 minutes, but it's closer to an hour.

UGHHH! That's not what I wanted to hear. I have 2 DD's who were late risers on our trip this past January. They were sleeping in until about 9 and I was up between 6:30 and 7 every day (not really by choice). I was hoping that this might also be the scenario on our upcoming trip in October so that I can get a load of laundry done before they wake up. I'll be hard pressed if the washers and dryers each take an hour.

I was at BWV this June and they also had those low water front load washers. I thought I would lose my mind. :headache: They take forever. I didn't like them at all. At least it was free. :cutie:

There's a button on the front loader at AKV that's an "extra rinse" cycle. Without that activated, the cycle is much shorter.

VWL had them as well and another guest pointed out to me you can select "quick cylcle" or something like that and it's half the time.

I used both the front loading and top loading and the difference was about 10 minutes. I did not activate the extra rinse cycle however. It took about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get everything done. I did have a couple of pair of husbands jean shorts that did not dry completely on the waistband so hung them up and they were dry when we got back from the parks. I was doing the laundry at 6 am also and the room was dark when I got there so I walked right by it. The light switch is just inside the door on the right.
