Just added a one-night stay at AKV Kidani before checking into BWV...so excited! Won't get to AKV until late afternoon so plan on checking out the resort and pool.

What are things should I not miss at AKV? Anyone have pictures?

You'll love AKV! Since you're arriving late be sure to stay the afternoon to enjoy the resort and to get the feel for how relaxing it is verses hustling off to the next resort.

I loved exploring and finding about things on my own instead if having a check list of places to hit. You'll find it all, without problem. What you might like is a list of hidden mickeys - those are near impossible to find except for the typical carpeting and bed spread thing.

magicaldisney, thank you for the incredible pictures that make me even more excited about Kidani!

Wow, booking only 1 night and not arriving until late afternoon would make me sad! Any chance you can stay a couple of nights or longer in order to really experience staying at this amazing property?

I love coming "home" at night and hearing all the wonderful sounds (ok, so they're piped in - I don't care!) and seeing the welcoming lanterns at the entrance. Truly spectacular.

Take a walk over to Jambo House and check out all the African artifacts. Sit by the fireplace in the lobby and enjoy the fire. Go outside to the look-out and watch the animals. If the African guides are out there talk to them about their homeland it's very interesting to listen to them.
Back at Kidani eat at Sanaa, check out the great pool. Enjoy and welcome home.

If they have the night gogles that night at Jambo House. The kids enjoyed it.

The water slide at Kidani is really cool and they have a great splash park area as well. The pool is much larger at Jambo. The community hall at Kidani had lots of stuff, and a great watching place for the animals. Like another post said, Sanaa is the restaurant at Kidani. I did not like the cuisine (food was prepared well) but the view was amazing. It looked like a giraffe was going to walk into the restaurant. They also have Boma and Jiko at Jambo House. Both are good - Boma is buffet - and I liked Jiko for the filet, but heard it was off the menu right now.

I know! But don't feel too bad for us...after our stay at AKV, we are headed to BWV for a week.

Thanks for all of the suggestions you all have given me!

My kids LOVE the pool parties in the afternoon at the Kidani pool. It's so much fun with games and dancing!

Be forewarned: Once you experience Kidani you won't be able to get enough :goodvibes It's addictive.

I agree, I first saw the pool party bit at SSR, then Kidani, then WL (main pool). I think they're doing this more at other pools. Ping pong tables seem to be unique to just the DVC pool areas so far.

We just stayed 4 nights in a studio it was so close to CH and the buses! We habe been to the parks plenty sometimes we will just do a few rides and then head to the pool for the fun. We love the pool at KV. Won a stuffed girafe at Bingo! I never win anything! Ate at Boma and Mara and Sanna. I loved Sanna! Going back Jan 2 for 4 nights!

The "Library" is a nice little gem at Kidani as well. It isn't an actual library, and you won't find any books there, but it has a nice cozy fireplace, some great places to sit and relax, and a wondeful balcony outside where you can watch the animals.

And Kidani has a Community Hall too not far from the Library, so more to explore and enjoy while there.

I'll be back at Kidani myself in December, and I'm getting all excited about it myself just thinking about it... :cool1: Enjoy your stay. :)

At 8 or 8:30 a CM takes you on a cultural safari telling about the country in Africa he/she is from.

Agreed with others on here. Make sure you take plenty of time to just explore the AKV! It's such a cool place!
