Trying to budget our trip for October and really want to stay at Kidani - only have enough points for standard view and DH is refusing to look at a parking lot. Does anyone have photos of standard views from balconies at Kidani, even the parking lot ones so I can show him? Thanks!

We just returned from a studio at AKV and had a Savanah view and it didn't do a thing for us. DH and I agree that we wouldnt waste our points on the view because the animals aren't always where you can see them, you can't see them at night well, and we don't spend that much time in our room anyhow. IF we had to pick a view I'd much rather have a pool view but honestly unless you really plan on spending long bouts of time in your room then a view isn't as important as it seems. Good luck sorry I don't have any pics but I thought that maybe you would like a different point of view. :thumbsup2

Kidani's parking lot is underground, so a standard view would be of landscaping, possibly the road that goes towards Jambo, maybe the entryway. But the main parking lot is underground. We did savanna last year and it was nice but this year we decided to save the points and stay in a standard view as well. We will be there in 4-1/2 weeks! Tell your husband, the view will be o.k.

Here is a panoramic view from the balcony of room 7807 - a Kidani Standard View Studio.

It was NOT noisy (with drop off area below them).

It was great. We had the room for what 5 nights for 63 points (first week of December). It was a wonderful value.

Room 7733, it has a pool view and a partial savanna view as well.

Thanks so much everyone! Keep 'em coming - I'm sure I'll have my list of room numbers handy when we check in!:thumbsup2

We had the balcony with the red railing at the top left which you can see in ChiSoxKeith pic.

That was the view from there, liked it very much!

Last time, we had a value studio with Savannah view, while it was nice (saw 2 giraffes just outside our balcony late one night) I wouldn't pay for a regular Savannah view. The public viewing areas were great.

OP - Exactly how much time does your DH plan to spend looking out the window? For me it was about 5 minutes over the course of a week.

Everyone is different but for us, we will not likely spend the points on a savannah view again. Just wasn't worth it to us. We enjoyed the savannah, but from the backyard/firepit area, not the room. We loved Kidanni and the whole AKL resort.

I guess our view problem comes from being spoiled at OKW and enjoying our large balcony in our 1 bdrm villa there - we spend every morning and every evening enjoying a beverage, reading or playing cards while taking in the lush greenery around us. That is why he didn't want a parking lot view like we know you can get at Jambo - we've only visited Kidani, but I really want to stay there, and I know the balconies are half the size of OKW, so he'll just have to deal!

So is standard view also pool view? Does anyone have photos of a full pool view? I'm glad Kidani has mostly underground parking, really helps with the views!

With Kidani standard, you could get some rather dull views. There is some parking visible, and accross the street and behind the pool is some non-lanscaped empty space, also some roads and the bus stop. If you really want to spend a lot of time on the balcony, you might want to opt for the SV rooms. Keep in mind however, that the Animals are taken off the savanah from about 6am to 10am. The evenings are very dark and the only thing you are really aware of are all the other buildings across the way.

All your balcony time is going to be dissapointing compared to OKW, no matter the view. Those things are spacious.

not all of the parking is underground, I don't know if I ever took a photo of our view, I'll have to look and post if i find out... we had a standard and overlooked landscaping/parking/roadway but really we didn't care about the view.

I had been really curious about how Disney pulled off "underground" parking since the water table in that part of Florida is a problem. I knew that Magic Kingdom was build on the 2nd floor (so to speak) above the utilidors because they couldn't dig down too far without hitting water. So I when I visited Kidani 2 weeks ago, I found that the parking is actually on the ground level and the building begins on the 2nd story. Which makes a lot more sense!

So, just wanted to share in case anyone else was curious. :goodvibes

Since alot of other posters are saying that after staying in a savannah view room once, they won't do it again - I thought I would offer a different opinion. We are booked for our third stay at AKV - twice KV, once JH - all savannah view villas. Our family loves sitting out on the balcony and watching the animals. I had the hardest time getting my boys to leave the villa - they were so content just animal watching. For our family, the savannah view is the best thing about AKV. If we had to stay standard view, we would opt for a different resort. For us, the view really does matter.

I,m with you,the view makes it for us, stay off site and save even more money if the view is not important.

Standard view at Jambo is the pool view, why not try Jambo. You can still use the facilites at Kidani.

We will also be staying at AKL - Kidani - standard view for part of our spring break trip. From these posts, I feel better about it. We go to WDW frequently and can use all the points we can get. I would rather save points, and actually was surprised that there were standard view rooms available.

Hope it works out for you and that you get a room you are happy with! :)

I agree. We have had a Savannah view 3 times and this will be our 4th. We have always seen plenty of Animals. My 2 boys wanted to stay in the room on the balcony instead of going to the parks.

We stayed Kidani std view and had a nice view of the pool. You can see the cars directly below the balcony, so just don't look down ;)

I like reading the prev posts I just booked standard view studio for mem day weekend and can't wait Is there a place to view the savannahs without having a savannah view Rm
Dang it couldn't do called ms back and changed to okw thought that would be easier for mom. Oh well we ll do akv another time

DH and I are split on the matter. I don't mind saving money and going for the standard view, but DH insists he has to have savanna view.
