AKV Kidani in May 2022

I was recently looking at availability and appears all room size for all view types are booked completely for kidani the first week of May 2022. Does anyone know if something is planned that week? I’m currently booked for dvc jambo and hoping no surprises.

May is 8 months away & every villa is booked? I’m going w/ tech issues. I don’t know if you’ve followed this thread https://www.disboards.com/threads/lots-of-availability.3848361/ but the resort availability tool seems to have been very wonky lately, keep checking in case those villas magically ‘show up’ some day.

Thanks for reply, I’m booked in jambo and am happy staying there I just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss some sort of kidani resort shutdown for maintenance or something which could impact stay in jambo.

Doesn’t Kidani start re-furbs next year? That could be part of it.

Last Kidani refurb was 2016 which would mean the next one, if usual schedule is kept, would be 2023 not 2022. Moreover, it is only the first week of May showing being fiull. Everything else at Kidani is still open both before and after that first week of May. There is no event that could account for the rooms filling. There is no other DVC resort, including Jambo, showing this reservation problem where all rooms are already filled for the entire week. Thus, a possible explanation is that the online reservation system is screwed up (as usual).

Doesn’t Kidani start re-furbs next year? That could be part of it.

DVC has already announced which resorts will received refurbishment in 2022, and AKV was not one of them.

I saw that last night. DH and I were thinking of going then to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, but when I read this yesterday, I decided to take a look-sure enough! Sure hope it changes soon.

All rooms at Kidani are now shown as open for May 1-8 except for some nights missing for the standard view GVs (there are only two of those). It was a system glitch. Over a week ago, I contacted MS, and initially MS insisted that members had booked all those rooms. I explained how impossible that was, considering that such had never before happened for Kidani at 8 months out, that the week before and after were shown as fully open, no other resorts had the issue, there were no special events scheduled, and for that time of year most rooms, particularly savanna views, were usually still open at 7 months out. I asked to speak to someone higher up. In my conversation with a higher up, he also insisted it must be actual reservations, but reluctantly agreed to check with IT as to whether there might be a system glitch. Result: May 1-8 is now open except as noted for the Kidani standard GV.

Thank you for following up on this to get resolved. This makes me wonder how many rooms are stuck in limbo which aren’t as obvious. If it’s so prevalent to take out a whole resort Disney really needs to get this fixed (especially with the excess points). Failure to do so now thst they know exists to me borders on illegal behavior for timeshare laws (effectively taking rooms out of inventory outside what they legally can).
