It is our first stay at AKV (Jambo) Studio Savannah- I have MS and might have a rented scooter with us on our trip.

Here are my questions:

1. I have not requested a handicap room. Should I? What is the difference in the room besides the roll in shower?

2. Is there a particular room or area I should request?

3. On of the main reasons we are staying on Savannah is because my boys love giraffs and zebras. Does the Savannah at Jambo have these aminals? I have heard that one of the savannahs at Kidani does not have giraffs.

4. We are on the wait list for Kidani, would you switch over if it comes available?

5. How far of a walk is the bus stop in the Jambo House?

6. I've looked at a couple of maps for AKV but am confused as to what side is Jambo and what side is Kidani.

7. I have a 12 & 13 year old. What is there for them to do at Jambo vs Kidani?

8. I've heard others talk about tours at AKV, any suggestions. Are they worth the money? I would be interested in a morning safari tour. Thoughts?

I know this is a lot to request but I am trying to make the best of our few days at AKV. This is something we have wanted to do for a very long time. Can't wait to surprise my boys.

Thank you for your help.

There are different kinds of HA rooms but if you do not need to stay in the scooter in your room you may not want/need to reserve the HA. Usually they all will have grab bars in the bathroom, higher toilets and often lower beds. I'd guess that the counter in the kitchenette could be lower than normal to accommodate someone sitting in a wheelchair. They will probably have light switches and door peep holes that are lower for a person in a wheelchair. And if it has a roll-in shower then the studio will not have a bathtub.

2. Is there a particular room or area I should request?

All personal preference IMO unless there's something specific you want like close to elevator, close to pool, close to lobby etc.

3. On of the main reasons we are staying on Savannah is because my boys love giraffs and zebras. Does the Savannah at Jambo have these aminals? I have heard that one of the savannahs at Kidani does not have giraffs.

All the savannah's around Jambo have giraffe. I'm not certain about the zebra but they are definitely on the Sunset savannah.

4. We are on the wait list for Kidani, would you switch over if it comes available?

For a studio I don't think it makes much difference. And at Kidani you could end up on the Pembe savannah which is the one that does not have giraffe

5. How far of a walk is the bus stop in the Jambo House?

Not too far from the lobby but it could be far from your room.

6. I've looked at a couple of maps for AKV but am confused as to what side is Jambo and what side is Kidani.

On maps Jambo is usually on the right. it looks like a horseshoe with some prongs sticking out from it and has the Arusha savannah in the middle. Kidani looks like an E on it's side.

7. I have a 12 & 13 year old. What is there for them to do at Jambo vs Kidani?

Since both sections aren't that far apart they can easily go back and forth. Kidani has the community hall though. Both have arcades, pools and work out rooms. The basketball court/sport court is closer to Kidani.

8. I've heard others talk about tours at AKV, any suggestions. Are they worth the money? I would be interested in a morning safari tour. Thoughts?

You must be staying concierge level to do the morning safari tour at AK. The sunset tour at AKL would be available to you and is a tour around the savannahs at the lodge and includes dinner at Jiko.

I know this is a lot to request but I am trying to make the best of our few days at AKV. This is something we have wanted to do for a very long time. Can't wait to surprise my boys.

The Jambo pool slide is rather dull (awesome for a 5 year old, not so exciting for 11) Kidani has a better slide.

They say the Uzima savannah at Jambo does not have zebra
, but I thought I saw zebra (actually heard several animals munching grass one evening), and not Giraffe in Nov when my room was on the Uzima savanna

Cash guests pay more to be on the central Arusha savanna at Jambo.
The sunset savanna is shared between the resorts. Most of Kidani is on the sunset savanna.

Are you staying in a studio? In a Jambo 1BR the shower is a high step into the jacuzzi tub.
