AKV Jambo pool closure

There are reports on the resorts board that the pool at AKL isn't going to be open til mid february now. How far of a walk is it to Kidani? And does it make sense to drive over? We decided to rent a car.

The pool is on the far side of Kindani- if I was interested in going and had a car available I would probably drive- it will still be a few minute walk from the parking lot.

Thanks for your reply! I just read a report from someone who just returned and they said they also had a shuttle running over to Kidani. So I guess we'll just head out and if there is a shuttle there waiting we'll take if not we'll hop in our car.

You just hop on the DTD bus to get to Kidani from Jambo. It is the farthest from the lobby but we didn't have to wait on it to get back to our room.

They also had a van there at the entrance that ran people back and forth between kidani and jambo due to the pool closure.

What exactly is being done to the pool? Our first visit is in August.

Well, they drained it, and I observed some disk sanders sitting on the bottom, but no workmen at the times I looked, so I'd think perhaps crack repair, or some resurfacing.

There is a shuttle van to Kidani, as well as the downtown bus, because it is a goodly hike from Jambo to the pool. There are a couple accessability issues, so if you have a disability with a chair or ecv, be sure someone goes with you or be prepared to wait until someone comes along to hold the gate for you.
Onegate has a Lift latch on top of gate that is not reachable from seated position, and then the gate opens out while you're lifting the latch. The other gate has a button, but it doesn't open the gate = you have to push the button then get to the gate before the auto locks lock again. Both to keep children from escaping or getting in unaccompanied, i'm sure, but a difficulty for mobility impaired. I reported the issues, but whether or not they fix them, remains to be seen.

We were at Jambo house this weekend and although the pool is closed the hot tubs were open. We don't have kids, so the pool closure wasn't an issue for us. We sure enjoyed the hot tubs though.

I am glad that the hot tubs are still open. So at least when we arrive back from the parks at night we can enjoy the hot tubs.

We're with you. Love those hot tubs after a day at the parks . No, I do not believe the pool bar was open because they have closed off the entire area, including where the bar is located.
