Someone Needs To Help Me Cause I Dont Understand What All The Hub Bub Is About With Akv Its Just A Bunch Of Stinky Animals You Would Honestly Rather Have That Than The Peace Of Ssr Its So Elegant And Nice Im Just Confused Its A Very Peaceful Resort... I Mean I Guess Cause I Think That Animal Kingdom Is A Halfday Park With Only A Couple Of Attractions ..maybe Im Being To Hasty I Just Dont Get It I Dont Want To Start Anything I Just Was Wondering What Is Drawing Everyone In

Ok. I'll bite!

Honestly, I don't see what the great draw is either. For us, maybe a 2 night stay at the VAKL, following a VWL 5 night of course!

But we don't have kiddos who love animals. And I have never been a "zoo person" (or a "parade person" for that matter!). We are "lake people"! Give me a resort on a lake!

I am just glad that DVC is adding a new resort attached to one that a lot of people love.

This is not going to be a pre-VAKL resort bashing thread, is it?

I understand how you feel, I am not big into the African theam of Animal Kingdom Lodge. However, I am happy DVC is giving us another highly theamed resort. This was a much better decision IMHO than a Contemporay DVC that would have no theaming whatsoever, and would just be another highrise condo complex like countless others. I would never buy AKV, but I say bring it on! The theaming will be authentic and creative. That is what sets DVC apart from everyone else.

First of all AK and AKL are two separate entities. AKL is an absolutely beautiful and peaceful resort. It has amazing views of the animals, yes, but also so much more. There are two wonderful restaurants and the architecture is beautiful. AKL was my very first deluxe resort that I stayed in and have now tried all the others, but it is still my favorite. I love sitting by the firepit in the rocking chair in the evening and watching the animals or having a drink while standing in their wonderful pool.

I have always said that I wished for a DVC there so I could have a reason to buy more points. I love SSR, but honestly it cannot hold a candle to what AKV will be.

I was just at the world a week ago and met with my guide to talk about AKV. He showed me the mock-ups and explained that they believe the room sizes will actually be a little bigger and the layouts will be a bit different than what we have now. He is just as excited about the lodge as I am. It will actually be a totally separate building and have it's own pool and it's own lobby and restaurants. They are using the same craftsman that they used for the AKL and expect the results to be just as beautiful.

If you really want to know the difference between the two, spend the evening at AKL, you will get it.
