I have a grand gathering planned in June, we are going with 2 other families. Our family has 4, (kids 2 and 5yrs), next family has 5, (kids 8, 5, 3yrs), last family has 3, (kid 4yrs)
Right now I have a ded 2BR and a studio both savanna view booked at KD. Total is 300pts. Sleeping plan is our family of 4 in the 2BR with the family of 5 and the studio for the family of 3.

Well, I am playing with the points charts and it occurred to me that a value 1BR and a standard 2BR at Jambo would be 290 pts. We would save 10pts and the family of 5 could have their own 1BR. We have stayed in a 1BR value before and know we would be comfortable.

Question: would you try to switch (I realize availability for the value could be slim but I could WL) or stay with the Savanna view at KD? I am thinking everyone having their own space would make for a nicer trip for everyone and saving the pts would be nice too! It would be 315pts for a standard view 1BR and 2BR so not as willing to go that route.

Is the savanna view worth it? We will all have cars so the parking at KD would be nice and so would the pool, but neither family has been to AKV or Disney for that matter so doubt they would care. I am just second guessing, wish I had thought of this at 7mo window....

Thoughts? This is my first time trying the BIG trip so I am nervous about how it may play out. Thanks!!!

I would go for more space than the view. There seems like theres alot of children going in your group, and even though you may love these other families, at the end of a day, or a long afternoon, you might want your own personal space.

The savanna view rooms are nice, but the animals are only out if front of your room certain times of the day. If you are not in your room at that time, you miss out. There are so many public viewing areas in both Kidani and Jambo, that a savanna view room is nice to say, but it's not totally worth it.

So, my opinion, have more space, stretch out, you'll be happier is everyone is relaxed and happy over being to cramped and getting on someones nerves.

The value 1 bedrooms don't have the sleeper chair.

I'm someone who really thinks the savannah view is worth it. I do the lesser views sometimes, but with a large group with children, I think the savannah is appreciated. The 3 bathrooms in the Kidani 2 bedrooms are handy, and the balconies are huge. The one we had in our dedicated 2 bedroom ran the whole length of the villa. Our DGC loved seeing the animals and they were about 4,5 and 6 when we had it.

I would NOT give up the extra space, the sleeper chair, the extra bathroom and the Savanna view just to save a mere 10 points. My comfort is worth more than that, and I think it would be very special for those guests who have not been there before.

Bedsides that, if you go on the WL, what if only 1 unit came through? I'd stick with what you have.

At Kidani I would save some points with getting the studio as a standard view and with it set up as a grand gathering you should be right across the hall from each other.

Most of the time everyone is going to be in the 2br anyway, for 5 nights it should save 15-20 points.

It should be an easy change since you only have to change the studio

THIS is a great idea. It would save 20pts. The family we have in the studio is a sleep in and stay out late type, I don't really think they will be in the room enough to enjoy the savanna anyway. I know there are tons of other viewing spots and they can always come into our villa and spend time on the balcony there.

I really appreciate the feedback! I am feeling more confident about the choice to share the ded 2BR with our friends and enjoy the BIG balcony and the savanna view! With 5 little ones I think the view, the extra bathroom, the close parking and the fantastic pool will be the best choice for our group after all :goodvibes
