What is the difference between a 2 BR Dedicated Villa & a 2 BR Lockoff Villa?

Is there a benefit to one over the other?

Thanks!

The second :bedroom" in a lock-off is really a Studio, so it has a kitchenette, a queen, and a sofa bed. It also has its own entrance, should one wish to use it.

The second bedroom in a dedicated has 2 queen beds, no kitchenette. Real beds.

Thank you. I'm confused though. Does this mean the Lockoff type 2 BR's have two kitchens (one off the living room & one in the second bedroom)??

Do the 2 BR dedicated rooms have a kitchen at all?

& do both types have a dedicated living room, separate from the bedrooms?

At AK Jambo all 2 BR all lock-offs, only AK Kidani has dedicated 2 BR and lock-offs.

Both types have a dedicated living room/dining/kitchen area, master bedroom.

The only difference is in the second bedroom portion.
Lock off= door to the hallway (and to living room), kitchenette (not full kitchen), one queen bed, and one sofa bed
Dedicated= no door to hallway (only to living room), no kitchenette, two queen beds

Go you you tube and search "animal kingdom villas 2 bedroom dedicated". There are some great resort room tours for most resorts on there.

There are no dedicateds at Jambo.

A lock off has a kitchen AND a kitchenETTE. But not really 2 kitchens.

If you need another visualization go to the DVC website here:

https://disneyvacationclub.disney.g...-villas-kidani/points-rooms/#default=1/0/0/0/

Scroll down and below the type of room you can click on "View Floor Plan". There is a floor plan for both the dedicated and lock-off. Do note both floor plans are for Kidani with the 3 bathrooms. I love those 3 bathrooms <3

Thank you! We are planning to stay at Kidani with a Savannah view. So, we could end up with either the dedicated or the lockoff, right? Are both types of two bedrooms available in both Savannah views (Sunset Savannah & Pembe)?

I'm so glad both types come with 3 bathrooms!

Both can be savanna view. It is a booking category, so you need to pick which one you want. When you go to book you will pick 2 bedroom villa- savanna view or 2 bedroom lock-off villa- savanna view. BTW, you want the sunset savanna, which you can request later. Also if you do a request you might want to choose close to lobby. Our last stay we were in the last section and that was a killer walk late at night!

Thank you! We are renting points from someone and we are all booked. It was not listed in the confirmation email whether we have a dedicated 2 BR SV or a lockoff 2 BR SV. It just says 2 BR SV. Should it say in the confirmation?

I am putting in a request for Sunset Savannah, but I'm afraid to add in any additional requests, to increase our chances of getting our Sunset Savannah request.

The "two bedroom lock-offs" are one booking category and the "two bedroom," a reference to the dedicated, is another at Kidani. Thus, you can book one or the other. If reservation just says "two bedroom" that is the dedicated.

At Kidani, both lock-off and dedicated are about the same size and have three bathrooms. Both have a main kitchen combined with the living room. The lock-off is a connected studio and 1BR and thus the studio (the second bedroom) has a mini-kitchen, a queen bed and double pull-out couch. The second bedroom of the dedicated does not have that mini-kitchen and has two queen beds. The lock-off has two entry doors, one for the studio and one for the 1BR, while the dedicated has a single door in the center. The lack of a mini-kitchen and front door to the second bedroom of the dedicated gives you more space in that second bedroom than the studio.

A significant difference is the balcony. The dedicated balcony runs across all three rooms, the master bedroom, living room, and second bedroom. For the lock-off, the balcony itself does the same but there is a barrier wall on the balcony between the 1BR and studio. Thus, the dedicated avoids both the blocked view caused by that wall and allows everyone to be together on the balcony regardless of which room is used to exit onto the balcony.

Great thank you for this very helpful info!! :) Our reservation just says "2 BR SV" so I will assume its a dedicated!

Are requests the same as making requests with regular rooms? Cannot be garunteed? Or is it easier to get a request granted with DVC?

We are requesting Sunset Savannah. I would love to also throw in 3rd floor, close to lobby, but Sunset Savannah is my priority so I'm hesitant to put too much on there.

Requests are not guaranteed. They are met in order given, thus if Sunset savanna view is lead request, they will try to meet it first. A request for Sunset savanna has a high chance of being met at Kidani because more than 80% of the savanna view rooms overlook Sunset.

Beginning 60 days out, you can do check-in online if you have set the reservation up in My Disney Exoerience (that can be done once you have the reservation number). One part of that online check-in is to give you location request options you can check. Be aware that if you have made a request through Member Servcies (MS) via a member for a location, you should do nothing on that page for making location requests when doing online check-in because doing so will wipe out any previous request put in by MS.

If you are considering a second request, avoid "close to lobby." That is the request most made by guests with the result that many do not get it and often end up as far from the lobby as one can possibly be. A "third floor" request is also one to reconsider. There are five floors -- ground floor where there are no rooms but instead the under-building parking garage, and second through fifth floor which have rooms. It is better to just request "lower floor" (meaning 2d or 3d), or "higher floor" (meaning 4th or 5th).

Personally I would not make more than two requests with Sunset as the first one and the seocnd one trying for a location that is within striking distance of lobby, either "near the Rafiki elevator" (down that elevator to ground floor gives you shortest walk from building to an entry to the pool), or "near the Timon elevator" (which puts you close to the the doorway that leads directly to the bus stop).
