AKV Concierge

"free" : food & drinks (including alcoholic)

private lounge, concerige services, access control to your floor (in the case of the top floor), ability to book certain tours, and 'bragging rights' ;)

The best thing is being able to do the Sunrise Safari!

When you say free food and drinks! Do you mean like Happy Hour's daily or is it all day any time toy want?

There's almost always some out to eat, as well as something to drink. Depending on the time of day, these offering differ. If there is something you'd like but don't see out, often times a polite request will be sucessfull in getting what you want.

I think our first trip will be a studio concierge :) Do the concierge rooms have a savannah view?

Of the 5 concierge 2BR lockoffs, I think 3 are savannah view and 2 are pool view but it might be the other way around. So savannah view is not guaranteed. The concierge villas are on the 6th floor and since animal viewing is better on the lower floors, I'm not sure how good the savannah view is from up there anyway. You might want to bring binoculars!

Go to allearsnet.com and they have a full description of the food and drink offerings...with pics!

Not to sound :snooty: but, I've only ever stayed concerige when at AKL - on both the 5th and 6th floors; and we've never had a complaint about animal viewing. I think binoculars are a good idea regardless as to what floor you stay on. :)

My thinking is after a few cocktails I may try bareback riding on the Giraffe, and I want to make sure my wife and daughter can see me from the room. popcorn::

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the lobby floor conidered the 3rd floor. Is the Savanah on the 1st floor level, or does it start on the 3rd floor level where the lobby is?

Yes the lobby is on the 3rd floor. The savannah is on the equivalent of the 1st floor. There are savannah view rooms on floors 2 through 6.

So from the higher floors you get a more expansive view of the savannah. On the lower floors you are closer to the animals. I've stayed on the 2nd, 3rd and 5th floors and the 2nd floor was by far my favorite view -- we were eye level with the giraffes!

Sorry about that! I should have said that I prefer the views from the lower floors. My first stay at AKL I stayed on the fifth floor and enjoyed the view. But since then I've stayed on the 2nd and 3rd floor and found that I prefer being closer to the animals. The 2nd floor room was amazing!

I LOVE concierge at AKL! Besides the Sunrise Safari with the buffet breakfast, and  EXCELLENT views of the animals, you have the concierge staff to make reservations for you, and you don't check in like the cheap seats in the lobby, you check in up in concierge when you get around to it because you go directly to your room! I don't know if they will do it the same for DVC or not. The best part is the concierge "buffet" on the 6th floor:
7-10 am breakfast, with  coffee cakes, fruit, cereal, juice, bagels, etc.
10-2 snacks, pop, water, etc.
2-5:o'erderves(sorry for the spelling)
6-8 desserts
8-11 evening cordials

It was so much fun, we ate this food for the two days we were there! Lots of people just stayed up there and read, or watched Disney movies--it was summer, and VERY hot, but they were very nice to everyone. Our only problem was that we got savannah view instead of pool view, which turned out to be boring. After all, zebras are cool for about the first 5 minutes, then you're ready for something new, because zebras do the same thing all the time.:hippie:
