Holy moly! I have not been on here in forever and with a trip to Aulani coming up, I need to get reading!! Have been thinking about booking AKV next Christmas and that booking window will be here before we know it as well!

Was considering booking Kilimanjaro Club Concierge as I was thinking the point difference from Savannah view would make it a "no brainer" but now am realizing these aren't necessarily Savannah view rooms.

Does anyone know if any of the KC Deluxe Studios have Savannah views? And if so, what portion of them would? It would be the kids' first trip to see "their giraffes" and I would love them to have a Savannah view. But I also think the lounge access would be of great benefit to us.

DH and I had a "standard" view this fall for Wine & Dine weekend but I would have considered it "savannah". We really lucked out. I am wondering if we could luck out again with a partial savannah view in concierge that wouldn't be classified as savannah...if that makes sense!

Thanks for your help!

There are 5 2-bedroom lock-offs that make up the DVC portion of concierge level rooms. Three of those face the Sunset Savanna, the other two face the Uzima Pool and all are on the 6th floor.

be aware that the savanna view club rooms tend to be somewhat obstructed by the roof and are from the 6th floor, so some have reported being disappointed and recommend getting a savanna view room for that purpose rather than a club level room. if you are more excited about the lounge and daily mousekeeping (or want to book the sunrise safari tour), then make sure you book at exactly 11 months out. (also, if you do get a club level room, you cannot request a savanna view.)

Do not book DVC concierge at Jambo for the view, you will be disappointed IMO.

Just for reference - this is the pool view. We've had two concierge stays and have gotten it both times.

If you want a guaranteed view of the savannah then you should book that.

You guys are awesome. Thank you! OK, here is a really, really dumb question...but I have never understood what a lock-off is! We are very DVC-green. I kind of get it...but if I were to book a "studio" that would be one portion of a lock-off is that right? And then the other portion would just be sold as a one-bedroom? Or am I completely off base here? LOL
Are all the studios part of a lock-off??

You are correct a lock-off is 2 rooms with a connecting door that can be locked off, a studio and a 1 bedroom.

Some resorts have dedicated studios in addition to lock-offs.

Thank you! Am I to assume there are no concierge level dedicated studios at AKV? It's just the 5 lock-offs?

For reference, the DVC portion of the Concierge Level rooms are above the lobby (6th floor). The are directly above the ones in the link below that are numbered 5202-5209 and 5401-5406. The Concierge Lounge is above the rooms numbered 5101-5106. There are no other guest rooms on the 6th floor.

Wow! You are amazing!! That is exactly the info I was looking for! You have made my day! Thank you!! Now can you tell me where all the value rooms are? ;) ;) LOL
I didn't realize there were so few concierge rooms so maybe my chances will not be good of getting one anyway (although I am always in favour of getting up in the middle of the night to book Disney on the first day available!)
I was wondering about doing a split stay...concierge for a few nights and then a "savannah view" over at Kidani so we can experience both buildings.

I think I figured out where the values are from another post. The ostrich and giraffe trails? I wish I could tell which rooms are "standard" because the standard we had was definitely a great savannah view in my opinion! How interesting! Thanks again everyone for your help!

Standard at JH are usually pool view, but a few of the formerly savanna view villas were recategorized as standard because the savanna view was blocked.

Wish I was smart enough to post a photo of our "standard" view. But I am not! :rotfl: We had them all...giraffes, zebras, the whole family

Here it is! The view from our "standard" deluxe studio at AKV Jambo House, Room #5356:
