AKV Concierge Reservation Question

I thought about the SS aspect too. That is actually the MAIN reason we want to do this!

Looks like I'll be dialing that number 11 months in advance!

If I don't go in September of this year that is. :)

Confused...

I'm think about TRYING (keyword) to book a concierge room at AKV in Nov. 07. Are concierge rooms going to be available then?

I feel so out of the loop. :confused3

The guides, and MS, have both been saying concierge rooms will not be available until May of '08. So, to answer your question: No, unless things have changed in the past couple of weeks, there will not be any concierge level rooms open in Nov of '07. Every other room category WILL have some units open by Sept 1, but NOT concierge.

it is my understanding that all levels of rooms in the lodge building will be available in sep 07.

i am wondering if they are going to put concierge level rooms in the new add-on villas.

As I said in the post above, the guides are saying some of everything BUT concierge will be open by Sept '07. If you have info that says otherwise, double check with your guide, and let us all know. We were told, at time of purchase, concierge would be the ONE room category not available at "opening".

All concierge rooms will be in the existing lodge.

I agree that the AKV concierge reservations will be a hot ticket. Is anyone else concerned about getting a concierge level reservation on a day that offers the Sunrise Safari? I believe the SS is only offered two days a week. Reservations for AKV concierge will be extremely tough those days!

I wouldn't be surprised if DVC figured out a way to offer the concierge-exclusive events to any DVC members staying at the resort. That would certainly help address much of the member frustration over the limited supply of concierge rooms.

The only drawback I can see is the likely backlash from cash guests. Of course, DVC members pay a whole lot more than even those paying concierge rooms, so some of the complaints would be baseless. But I'm sure there would be more than a few hearty debates on the topic.

If they did this they would almost certainly have to expand the number of days it is currently offered. Perhaps they could keep the current schedule for concierge guests and add a couple of other days during the week just for DVC.

Anyway, don't take this as a rumor...just my own speculation. If the Sunrise Safari were offered to all DVC members staying at AKV, I think it would alleviate a lot of the booking issues that are destined to occur with barely 1% of the resort's rooms in the Concierge class.

I've been thinking along the same lines. I think the Sunrise Safari is the major draw for many of us looking to book concierge level. Adding additional days to the safari schedule for DVC members would be a great option. The food options in the concierge lounge sound very nice, but the view from those villas isn't the greatest from what I hear. I would rather be on the 5th floor with a great savannah view, eating my own snacks and drinking my own wine, but still able to take part in the sunrise safari.

I'm right there with you. IF we ever decide to book concierge, I think it will be for one night just to do the sunrise safari. The lounge sounds OK, but...honestly, with a full kitchen, etc in a 1 BR...I can take care of my own snacks and drinks. It's not like in a regular hotel room where your fridge is more along the size (interior-wise) of a large shoebox. :)
