AKV concierge level - what do you get?

Hey guys, going over points for the upcoming year and trying to decide if we should put out the extra points to go for the club level if it is available at AKV.

Can anyone who has stayed on the concierge level let me know your thoughts? What extras did you get? Did you do the private safari? Any input and comments are welcome. :)

Thanks,
Meg

If you enjoy the feeling of being treated differently than other guests then it might be worth the extra points.

The food is just OK and sometimes you need to be there when it's put out or it's gone. So now you are planning your day around getting some finger food.

The room views have to be close to the worse at the resort.

They do clean your room every day, but do you really need them to?

They will turn down your bed at night but they open the sofa if you have 3 or more staying there. Maybe you wanted to sit on the sofa and watch TV.

They will get you reservations but how hard is it to get your own.

You are entitled to go on the special tour if you are staying there on the days that it is given.

Like I said, IMO it may be worth it and it may not.

:confused3How do you know they weren't club level guests? Were they bragging about stealing the food while in the lounge, did they pick the door lock to get in?, just kinda curious:cool2:

Or perhaps they were asked if they were "CL Guests" :confused3 I am curious too :)

This is what I want to know - how did they get into the lounge if they weren't CL guests?

We stayed CL prior to the conversion as well and prior to owning. When the lounge is FULL it's no fun and there is often no place to sit. Now that may not be a big deal because I understand the rooms aren't as far away as we had before. It was really REALLY inconvenient to bring anything back from the lounge particularly if you were in you room to begin with and were just going to grab a bite. Expect that if you go at prime breakfast and dinner times despite it not being intended for being a "meal", that's what it is for many. We did the Sunrise Safari and loved it! I intend to do it again. :thumbsup2

That said though, we weren't too overly impressed by it but I decided to try to get it this time and if I could, fine...and I did. The food was meh (though if it were AWESOME it would be treated like a meal so I get that), and the CMs wer helpful BEFORE we got there for sure but not once we were there. I made all my ADRs so it wasn't that, they arranged a special surprise for my son that took some finagling on their part but they did it. :lovestruc We had the points to use which is why I even bothered this time. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way though and to be eligible to go on the SS, all you need to do is be a guest of CL the day or the tour. That includes checking in later that afternoon. As long as you will be a guest in a CL room taht day within those 24 hours, you can go.

Anyone looking for a 1BR-CL for about 4 days in mid- Oct? I'll let cha know when/if we cancel and how many days. We're hanging on to over half of the days we have.

My friend got it at 7 months, 1 bedroom,

Your friend was exceptionally lucky! Someone must have just cancelled which I bet happens right at that 7 mo window for people. We have our entire stay booked in CL at AKV but plan to give up about 4 days of it if we can get a BLT TP view at our 7 mo. window. I called at call center opening time exactly 11 months out for our Oct. stay this year and had my one bedroom booked w/ only one more left ad that was 2 minutes into the call!

I guess it is all a matter of opinion.

My DW and I have stayed CL for the last 4 years and the last two with my DD2.

Everytime we stay, we get treated so well. The staff has always been AMAZING! Especially when they start to recognize you from year to year. They have gone out of their way to make us feel special and the level of service is top notch.

I have never noticed people sneaking up to the CL to eat, but you never know who is supposed to be there and who is not. People do get CL services even though they are not staying on the 6th floor, I have been told. You pay extra for it.

The food that is put out is pretty good for appetizers and snacks all day long, at certain times of the day for like two hours a shot. It's great to go out and get a soda or a beer whenever you feel like one and when you are nice to the staff like we are, they will go out of their way to get stuff from you even if it isn't out at that time. All you really need to do is ask, but it's great when you are coming back from the park and they offer to get you something! LOL!

I see so many people treating the staff like servants and ignoring them as well as leaving all their dirty dishes on the tables instead of just putting them in the station setup for it. My wife and I just shake our heads and wonder. Granted you are on vacation, but does that mean we lose all our manners?

You really just have to accept it for what it is and enjoy it. For us it is worth the extra points to get that level of service. It feels like a true vacation when we stay CL.
