AKV concierge and towels?

Just curious if anyone knows the answer to this.

I am very funny about towels. I will only use a towel once, then I want a completely new towel. I see that in DVC rooms I will only get a new towel every four days, unless I shlep to the laundry and wash them myself or pay $6 for clean ones. Luckily I am the only person in my family with towel issues, so maybe we could get by with just one extra towel pack between scheduled replenishment.

So if you stay in a concierge villa at AKV when they come to do the turn down service will they bring new towels or leave the ones you had? Because if I can get clean ones that way I think I will stay concierge! :rotfl2:

You'll get fresh towels every day in concierge when mousekeeping cleans the roon, not at turn down time at night.

Fresh towels every day is one of the things I love about concierge!

So they do a full housekeeping each day you are in a concierge villa? That is definitely something to keep in mind!

Will Kidani have concierge or are they just going to be in Jambo?

It looked like full housekeeping to me. Fresh glasses, trash emptied, Bed made, new towels, new soap etc. It was soooo nice! :goodvibes

Be on the phone with your ID number etc ready to give when they open. Tell the CM that you are trying to book Concierge and call Day by Day. Don't let the CM talk, you tell them you are booking Concierge, Your member number is xxxx. Hope you get it! Oh, I forgot, I know you know this, you do this at the 11 month booking window.

Just when I master calling for dining ressies I come up with some other nearly impossible ressie to pursue.:sad2: It would probably be easier to ship a box of towels to myself at the resort. Or get an Owner's Locker and fill it with towels. I don't care about the other concierge services, I have a thing about using towels more than once. :rotfl2:

The thing about us booking for next summer is that DH has to bid for vacation, and they don't bid until the end of November. So I could call and book a concierge villa and then have to turn around and cancel it if DH can't get vacation for the dates I booked.

There are only 5 two bedrooms villas or combinations there of. So if you wait until Nov for next summer, it will not be there. The max families if booked separately would be 10.

According to the FAQs page on the public DVC website there will not be any concierge villas in Kidani. There are a total of five 2BR lockoffs in Jambo's concierge which are probably rented out as one 2BR, four 1BRs and four studios or two 2BRs, three 1BRs and three studios. With so few Concierge rooms and more AKV owners each day, there is a lot of competition to book Concierge level. By the way, three of those 2BR lockoffs face the Sunset Savanna and two face the pool area so a savanna view can be requested but it is not guaranteed.

I am thinking it would be easier to find an alternate solution to my towel issue! :rotfl2:
I might try for a concierge studio and if I can book it and then DH can get those dates off then that's fine, but if not we'll book a normal studio and get on with it! ;)

You could always book a 1 bedroom, then no schlepping, there's a washer and dryer in the room.

True. But there are just 3 of us (me, DH and DS) so the one bedroom seems like an awful lot of points just so I can wash towels in the villa! :lmao:
Really, getting an extra towel pack isn't that big of a deal. I would rather use my points for a longer stay and just pay for extra towels when I decide I need them. :)

I have been reading this scratching my head about why you were refusing to use the in room washer and dryer, but now I see you are staying in a studio. I feel like the point of DVC is lost if you don't stay at least in a 1 bedroom.

LOL, well I think 3 is too many for a studio! We get at least a 1 bedroom and usually a 2 bedroom for 3.

Why not grab one extra towel at the pool? I always end up coming back to my room (no matter what size) with an extra towel or two for my after pool shower and then I return them to the pool the next day.

We are a family of three and have always stayed in a one bedroom except for one or two times when we were short points. Studios are just glorified hotel rooms and I didn't buy DVC for a hotel room.

Say it with me, Rob, I need, really need, my kingsized bed.

I'm good with the queen bed for now. And chances are I will end up on the pull-out couch if DS doesn't like it.

Remember this is all still very, very new to us. We have never stayed in a studio before, just deluxe hotel rooms. I am quite certain the rooms at Pop are too small, mostly because the beds are too small. That's why we started staying deluxe. Well, that and the coffee maker. So my criteria are pretty basic - bigger beds than at Pop, and a coffee maker. I imagine I will work my way up.

We figured we were spending AT LEAST $3250 each year on hotel rooms at WDW. Might as well buy DVC! For the short term our goal is to just kind of break even. As we progress we might think about buying more points, but for now we want our points to cover as many nights as possible. It doesn't have to be posh, it just has to be workable. If we ever found ourselves with a surplus of points then we would definitely book something bigger. :thumbsup2

We have 3 nights of a concierge room (not the villa, just the room) booked in August, so it's possible I will be so spoiled by it that I won't want to go without. But I hope not, because it sounds stressful to book a concierge villa!

Only one bed in the studio is bigger than the beds at Pop. The sleeper sofa is the same size.

That's ok! :thumbsup2
DH and I sleep in a queen size bed at home. DS sleeps in a twin at home, so he'll be fine in the full size pull-out bed. When we stayed at Pop DH and I each had a bed and we took turns having DS. It didn't work very well because DS thrashes around and he is full of sharp angles so he was always poking whoever had to sleep with him. And he has grown since the last time we stayed at Pop, so it would be far worse now! :rotfl2:

I most often book a one bedroom just for DH and me!

We can, however, live in a studio if we have to. I wouldn't like it with 3 people but with 2 it is "okay." Two in a concierge studio is fine. It's the two in a regular studio without towel service that I like less, partly because of the lack of clean towels and having to find a place to hang the old ones to dry.
