This will be our first stay at AKV, I am getting worried about travel times, and eating reservations. Example, we have a 930 breakfast at Crystal palace what time should I have everyone at the bus stop to get there? Thank you!

I think the suggested allotted time is one and an half hours to get to the dining site. Travel times from AKLV is not as bad as some say. Once you leave the resort you are on you way. Unlike other resorts when you have multiple stops at different resorts. There are screens at AKL that tell the approximate arrival times of the busses. I would check with the front desk to see what time MK busses start on your day.

AKV is our home resort, and we stay there often. Our rule for travel times is to allow 45 minutes for each leg of the journey. Going from AKV to MK is one leg so a minimum of 45 minutes. We normally plan on an hour to MK. It is the longest trip to a park (I think I timed it at 22 minutes if I remember right). An hour gives extra time in case it's a long wait for a bus.

FWIW, AKV has always had the best bus service for us. I've heard others say things about bad experiences with buses, but we've never had one yet. Have a great trip :thumbsup2

We stayed at AKV last month for the first time, and the bus service was great. I agree that the trip to MK takes 20-25min from the time you board the bus (then you stop at AKL) to the park entrance. It really isn't bad at all! I'd allow an hour in case a bus has just left when you get to the loading area. If your group is likely to be slow walking to the CP or you'll want time to take photos, I'd allow some extra time. You'll definitely be fine if you leave AKV at 8am.

The bus rides to the other parks were even shorter. The only issue we had was leaving DHS one night about a half-hour before closing because it took 25min for a bus to arrive and then it was full. Otherwise it was great!

In comparison to other DVC resorts, we have found the bus service at AKV better than the rest with AKV having only two internal stops, no sharing with other resorts, and fewer delays than we have experienced elsewhere. The travel time to MK once on the bus is about 25 (from Jambo) to 30 minutes (from Kidani, the first stop when going). Nevertheless, to be safe, you should allow at least an hour and probably 75 to 90 minutes. What you will find in the morning is that your biggest delay may be the time you spend in the bag checking and entry lines at MK.

I agree that AKV has the best bus service and when you factor in the lack of additional stops, it is actually a shorter process than most other resorts.

This is so interesting to read.... I was always under the assumption that since AKV was the furthest from the parks, that is had the most inconvenient location for traveling to and from parks (AK excluded). What I didnt realize was the fact that since it is in such a remote location that there are no other resorts to share with. Im sure staying at BLT, BWV, and BWV are the best locations for park resorts, but from this post, it looks like AKV could be the number one for non-near park resort transportation.

We just stayed at AKV this past March the first time and loved their bus service. We had previously only stayed at value and moderate, and AKV had the best we have stayed at. We also stayed at BWV during our March stay and hated the stops everywhere else along the way, but like everyone says you can walk to two parks there.

I have stayed at AKL and yes it's good bus service but I stayed at Coronado springs this fall and it was even better service. Fwiw

Except the time it takes the bus to travel around the resort at CSR is pretty lengthy.
