I am going to be making my reservation soon for next summer. Celebrating a wedding, college and H.S. graduation, and 18th birthday. Therefore, we are blowing all the points on a two-bedroom concierge (we hope!).

Then, I started researching, and find that the AKV 2-bedroom DVC concierge are on the 6th floor, and overlook the pool. Really? We are AKV owners because we love the Savannah experience, not the pool view experience! If we have only pool view, that kind of changes my plan.

The two-bedroom concierge is a lock-off, correct?

I have searched for a map of where the concierge DVC rooms are located, but can not find the room numbers for the two bedroom concierge. Can anyone help me with this?

We would like concierge for many reasons, one of which is to do the safari that is for concierge guests. And, I would like the two-bedroom, just in case the future son-in-law can't get off of work for a honeymoon, so that DD isn't off in a room all by herself somewhere else (because she says she is coming on this trip, no matter what!). Everyone's schedule can not be planned one year out, no matter how much I will it! :sad2:

Does anyone know the specifics of those two-bedroom concierge DVC rooms?

All Concierge Level units are in Jambo House on the 6th floor. All 2-bedroom units in Jambo House are lock-offs.

Concierge Level consists of five 2-bedroom lock-offs. Three face the Sunset Savanna and the other two face the Uzima Pool.

The Concierge Level units would be directly above those numbered 5202-5209 and 5401-5406 in the above link.

You cannot guarantee a view of the savanna by booking concierge - as noted above, you only have a 60% chance of getting one. Also, the view of the savanna is not very good from the concierge villas. A portion of the room below blocks part of your view.

If view is important to you, you should really consider getting a savanna view room instead and provide your own snacks and drinks in the room.

Of the three savanna view Concierge 2BRs, one of them has a roll-in shower instead of the combination whirlpool tub and shower that you get in the other Jambo House master bathrooms. So while you may get lucky and get a savanna view, you may get very unlucky and end up without a whirlpool tub.

The savanna view Concierge rooms are located in a little alcove of the Sunset Savanna. Animals do come in there occasionally but you will not see as many animals as you would from a Savanna View room in a better location. You will be on the 6th floor and the tree tops will block a lot of your view. Then again, you could book a Savanna View room at Jambo House and end up in that same alcove area but you would be on the 5th floor so the view would be slightly less blocked. (This is why I prefer Kidani -- bigger rooms, separate shower stalls, and you can request and often get a lower floor so you are closer to the animals.)

Since you want to do the Sunrise Safari you will have to book Concierge. Just be aware of the drawbacks so that you are not disappointed when you get there. We enjoyed our Concierge stay but we had stayed at AKL many times with great views so just this once we sacrificed the view for everything else that comes with Concierge.

Wow, that is all really disappointing! And thanks for the map, it is a big help!

The family all wants to be at Jambo house. That would leave me with floors 5 and 6 as DVC rooms, correct? I might still get a room overlooking the Arusha Savannah if I don't choose concierge, if I am understanding this correctly?

I am so very bummed regarding the lack of concierge rooms for DVC. We were all really hoping to do the safari.

We did stay in a one-bedroom at Kidani a few times, and liked the room layout, but this time the family wants to go back to Jambo house. It was where we first stayed many years ago, and with the kids grown, I guess they all want to go back to where the memories began,:sad1: even if it isn't working out the way I think it should!

Thanks for the help, at least I know now and won't be facing a big disappointment if I had gone ahead and booked what I originally had planned.:)
