AKV 1Bdr's x 2 Toilets

Hi there,

When AKV was announced I was positive that DVC had said that the new units would contain 2 toilets. Is this correct?

Next they will say Bobby Ewing was not shot and it was all a dream

This is correct. The Jambo units look nothing like the models DVC is showing at SSR. The models are of Kidani.

I was also hopeful that we would have 2 baths in our 1 bed until I read here that Jambo is completely different in layout.

When we toured the model rooms at SSR, we liked the one bedroom for the fact that it had two full baths. So yes, you do get your 2 toilets. They changed it around a bunch to add that feature. Plus, what I like, is the fact that you can sleep 5. One king size bed in master bedroom, one queen size sleeper sofa, plus one twin chair bed. The room really looks great.

You will not have that feature in the main lodge. When the new construction is finished, those 1 bedroom units will have 2 full baths.

I am just back from 6 nights at AKV in Concierge 1 bedroom and we had 1 toilet and 1 vanity and 1 shower.

Unfortuantely, I don't think the guides are making this clear when you do a tour. I know mine didn't and we were disappointed to find this out here on the DIS. I don't think I'm the only one that feels this way either. I'm still very thrilled with our purchase, I just wish they were a little more upfront during the tour.

I'm spending one night there on an upcoming trip in a one bedroom to show it off to DH and see if it's a place he'd consider an add on in the future, and I'm disappointed that it will be so different from the model at SSR.

Guides should make the distinction clear. When DVC announced the site and then provided information on its web-site, it made it clear that Jambo would only have the one bathroom in the 1BR and that the models being presented were for Kidani not Jambo. Jambo also has only combined tubs and showers while Kidani will have a separate shower and the Kidani 1Brs and 2BRs will all be larger than any at Jambo. The distinctions can obviously be mucked up when you walk in to visit a model, which is Kidani, and have not looked at all the prior info including on the website.

That does not mean the rooms at Jambo are not good. They are very good and personally we will probably prefer staying there even after Kidanoi opens, partly because we have a large preference for the Boma restaurant and don't really want to have to walk any distance to get to it.


As to Q above as to whether points are going to be less at Jambo than Kidani, the answer is no (except that only Jambo will have any of the smaller "value" point cost rooms).

We stayed in a 1BR in Jambo last Sept. There is just one bathroom. What I do like about the Jambo layout is the little hallway to the master; it gives a little more privacy. Oh, and that hallway makes a good spot for sorting dirty laundry.
