AKV 1 bedroom question

Okay, booked a 1 br AKV for this May. We were thinking that all the 1 br were designed like the model homes which include 2 bathrooms. for those that have stayed in these rooms....... do all 1 brs have 2 bathrooms? or are they just going to be in the new part. Then if so are some available to request? please help we have made these ressies with some friend thinking that they were equiped with 2 bathrooms.

Unfortunately, the 1 bedrooms in Jambo House only have 1 bathroom. The new rooms in Kidani will have the 2 bathroom arrangement we saw in the model rooms. We are in the same situation in May when we bring some guests along in a 1 bedroom.

None of the present 1BRs at AKV have 2 baths - these are all in Jambo House. All of the 1BRs in Kidani Village - to open in late 2008 or early 2009 - will have the configuration seen in the models.

If you are going in May, 2008 you will have just 1 bath. You will still have the sleep chair in the living room but the bathroom configuration will NOT be the same as the models at all.

The Jambo rooms will also have the tub and shower combined. There was not enough room in the conversions to separate the tub and shower, so you have a deep tub with a shower head in the Jambo units.

This may be a concern with 2 couples because you will all be using the same bathtub. The other DVC 1 bedrooms have the separate tub in 1 room with a sink and the walk in shower in the next room with a sink and the commode is separated.

I would prefer this set up if traveling with another couple or I would book 2 studios for the extra bath.

I have said this many times (as I'm sure some of you have already read some of my posts), but I am so disappointed that when so many of us took our tour at SSR it was not made clear that the floor plans were for Kidani.

Also, as I have said before, my guide knew we were planning on bringing someone with us this year and he made sure to comment on how wonderful the extra bathroom would be.

I agree Deb & Bill. I just cancelled our 1 bedroom value for our summer trip. If I pay 1 bed points, I want the separate tub and shower because it is almost like having 2 bath areas for my family.

When we all come in from the pool, I can take a bath and the boys can use the shower. The separate vanity areas are also helpful when getting ready.

We will stay in Jambo, but only for concierge and only when we want a studio.

I am looking forward to Kidani opening because I really liked the model 1 bedrooms. Jambo is a big compromise when compared with other 1 bedrooms and the AKV location.

We will be able to book Kidani as a guarantee once it opens.

Will all 4 types of rooms (Value, Standard, Savannah, and Concierge) be available in both buildings after Kidani opens? There has been some debate about the points being the same. IMHO they would have to be. Kidani, as part of Animal Kingdom Villas would have to have the same point schedule.

There are no plans that i have heard of for value or concierge. The value rooms in Jambo were created from the standard category rooms in the lodge. Those rooms, in the Ostrich and giraffe Trails, are smaller than the other rooms in the lodge.

Also from what i have heard, once Kidani opens, we will book our stays with a guaranteed Kidani or Jambo location along with our value, standard, savanna, or concierge requests. *(Value and concierge will all be in Jambo)

I believe only Jambo House will have all 4 categories (i.e V, S, SV, C). Kidani will have Standard and Savanna View. I think the point value for these 2 categories will be the same in both locations.

I just booked a 1 bedroom this morning. They had no savanah view, so I booked standard but I'm waitlisted for savanah. It's only 3 nights so I don't mind the one bathroom as much as if I were staying longer. I really wanted the extra sleep chair though. My girls would not be happy sharing the fold out double couch. Please tell me all one bedrooms in Jambo House have the extra chair ?

Also....I was told standard view could be parking lot or pool ? I thought "value" views were parking lot ? Seems like a big difference there-----but I guess it could be. I know BWV has preferred view that can be that of the pool areas or of the valet parking lot. Can we request "pool" view with a standard reservation (though I'm hoping the waitlist comes through !).

When Kidani Village opens, there will be no Concierge rooms there. There will also be no Value rooms there. Only Jambo House will have Concierge (five two bedroom lock offs) and value rooms.

We stayed in a standard view one bedroom last month (we looked out onto the pool from our balcony, and we looked out over the lobby when we left our room). We had the fold out chair, so my girls didn't have to share the pull out bed. I believe all standard rooms have the fold out chair.

We had all been expecting that the Value 1BRs would not have a sleeper chair because Value 1BRs accommodate 4 people whereas the Standard View, Savanna View and Concierge 1BRs accommodate 5 people thanks to the sleeper chair. Based on a report from someone who stayed in a Value 1BR, those rooms have the sleeper chair too. However the Value 1BRs are smaller and so there isn't enough room to open up both the sleeper sofa and the sleeper chair. There is only enough space in the room to open up one or the other, but you get to choose which one you want to use.
