I am looking at making accomodations at AKV. I am interested in a 1 bedroom to stay with another couple... but after reading the accomodations description on the DVC website I am understanding that a 1 bedroom in the Jambo house only has a bathroom in the master bedroom. Am I correct???

If so, I think I will book two studios instead. There is just something about sharing just one bathroom that I think might not be so comfortable.

if they are set up similar to other DVC resort 1bdrm than that is correct. 1 bath accessable from both master bed and the main room area. web site states additional bathroom in Kidani village only

I was looking at pictures of AKV, is there a walk-in shower in the 1 bedrooms in Jambo?

Once Kidani opens, I wonder if they will take specific reservations? Same points? Seems like Kidani should be more points if the rooms are larger with more ammenities.
That's why there is a value category on the points chart. The smaller rooms (Jambo) will use less points.

Yes you will know when you book if you will be in Kidani Village or Jambo House. Each building will have its own check-in desk for the people staying in that building. The point charts already published are supposedly for both buildings. Even though the Kidani Village 1BRs are larger than those in Jambo House, the points will be the same for the same room category, for example a Savanna View 1BR in Kidani Village will be the same number of points as a Savanna View 1BR in Jambo House.

This is the floor plan for a typical 2BR lockoff in Jambo House. Unlike the other DVC resorts, the master bathroom is all in one room with a combined tub and shower.

Just a curiosity question... When they open up Kidani Village, will they have free valet parking as well?

I know they offer it at Jambo, but was wondering if it would be offered at kidani as well.

We stayed in a 1BR in December. The space between the tub and sinks is a huge waste of space, yet the "full kitchen" is tiny. I am hoping I will like Kidani Village better. I was very disappointed in the Jambo house 1br. The bathroom is across the hall from the master bedroom, not accessible directly from the master bedroom.

Where are the closets? We use every inch of closet and drawer space in 1-bedrooms at BCV. And it is just DH and me. I have a tough time imagining 4 adults storing all their belongings in a 1-bedroom. So I guess I am hoping that they have at least that amount of storage space in a 1-bedroom at AKV.

I dont know if this is true of all bathrooms at the AKV...but we had a 1 bedroom and the bathroom door did not lock. It was just a sliding door. Very odd to me.

I think they are all like that, at least that's how they appear in all of the floor plans I've seen including the one I posted here. We had a sliding bathroom door in a HA studio at BWV but it did have a lock on it. I expected they would use the same type of lock on the sliding bathroom doors at AKV. It was similar to the lock on my sliding door here at home -- you rotate a little handle and a hook comes out from the door and grabs on to a bar in the door frame.

I would book two studios for 2 couples. If it were my sibs or all one sex friends I would do the one bedroom. I think the privacy issues would be a concern, along with the couple who has to sleep in the living area. Do you have enough points for a 2 bedroom?
