I have splashed out for 3 nights in a 1 bed as we had points to use that due to my mistake may end up being lost! (Well would be a year down the line). We are also booked for DDP! So a bit of an overload of food.

Since we are in a 1 bed can we take the breakfast back to the 1 bed in the morning and have breakfast on the balcony? Or do we have to eat the food in the lounge?

Also is there beer and wine in the evening?

I am not sure this floor is worth it, we gave up and SV studio for Concierge and now I am kind of regreting it. As we do not have guarenteed SV and we don't need the food or the kitchen. But there would have been banked points stuck in the 08 use year as we are not planning (after this Dec) to go back again until Dec 09.

Then again this may be our only chance of trying AKV Con, as it will be very popular.

Is there really any mistake staying in Walt Disney World? Regrets maybe, mistakes never. Just enjoy your stay, we're sure you'll have a great time.

I might cancel DDP but definitely kept the concierge.

It is excellent!

I think you can bring your food back to your room. just not sure?

I have two plans, if the rooms are available:-

I have currently booked

1 night QIP int drive, first night (sat) and getting really late (this a free room as it came with my flight).
3 nights in AKLV Con 1 bed with DDP
15 nights in OKW in a 1 bed.

Would this be better
1 night value studio AKL first night
3 nights SV Studio AKL or studio (BWV or BCV) with DDP
3 nights 1 bed AKL Con
12 nights OKW 1 bed

Do you think that is to much changing around? We have done it before. Also it is really scary messing with reservations when you have to cancel to book what you want!

DDP in conjunction with Concierge level would be a lot of food but Concierge is not providing a complete dinner or for that matter lunch just Breakfast choices and snack / Appetizer / dessert choices later on

If the DDP covered more days of your stay could you do some signature TS while non-concierge to use the TS credits from the concierge nights and combine concierge with CS on those days.

They put out a nice assortment at the Concierge lounge but it isn't a meal it is meant as a snack with the beverages.

I would go with your first plan, since I would hate changing rooms as often as your last plan requires. I too think DDP with concierge would be WAY too much food, and more expense than you would need. I'd probably just plan a nice dinner out at Jiko (since you are already in the right resort) and maybe do DDP for the OKW part of your trip. On the other hand, you might be pretty tired of eating out by then too. We find DDP gets to be too much if we do it for more than 5-6 days.

I think you're going to have a great trip. All I would do to is cancel the DDP!

I used almost all of our 07 and 08 points on 3 nights in a club level 1BR for one trip and 2 nights in a club level 2BR on another so I don't think you're making a mistake.;)

Yes, you can take your breakfast back to your room although the lounge has a drop dead view of the AKL lobby. Wine and beer are served from 5-7 and you can request a glass of wine or beer during the dessert time as well.

I don't know if we will do the DDP during our stays. I'll have to plan the meals before we decide. But it could work well to use the TS at dinner perhaps even with a signature restaurant and the CS at lunch. The appetizers in the club level really don't replace a meal although it's enough that you might want to make dinner later than usual. But with DVC, you can decide on the DDP closer to your trip.

Although I'm hoping for savanna view like everyone else, it won't be the end of the world if we get a pool view room. There are all those cool viewing spots around the lodge.

And I agree that it will become much harder to book club level rooms...probably like CRT breakfast. So I'm still very excited that we were able to get these reservations...like we hit the jackpot!:cool1:

The only reason I would want the concierge level at the AKVL is because you can book the sunrise or sunset safari that no one else has access too. everyone raves about it. You should see if its available for your family...well worth it.

I'm so excited -- I just booked 6 nights at AKV Concierge and am waitlisted for day 7. :cool1:

I have to agree with the others -- cancel DDP and keep the Concierge reservation. I stayed Concierge at BC and I do recall being able to take food back to the room. If you're not used to fine dining, you can eat enough to save some money. If I recall, the Mickey mac is pretty tasty!

We have taken food back to our room at the GF and Contemporary aswell as drinks. So I doubt you would have a problem. My husband has even gone and made toast for me and brought it back.

We are staying for a week Concierge at AKV and also have the DDP. To be honest I wouldn't say you could make a meal from the concierge offerings and would still have to go out and eat.

I would stick with the DDP and also keep the Concierge your only saving a few points anyway and it's an experience.

Anyone can book the Wanyama (Sunset) safari.

You can have the DDP for only one part of your stay (since you are doing multiple resorts), so cancel it for AK and if you really want to try it, then break your OKW stay into 2 reservations with DDP on one.

There is a slight chance they will ask you to move rooms, but when we have had continuing reservations we have not had to move. We did have to go to reception and check out / Check in on paper but that was all.

OMG, KEEP the concierge, dump the DDP for that portion--it will be way too much food.

The dinning plan and the level that your staying in are fine This is how we like to stay ..

The Club level doesn't make a big food offering it is more like snacks ..

So the dinning plan works well if you like to have a light breakfast meal and a counter service lunch and a meal at supper..

I repete DO NOT CHANGE IT!!! :dance3:

There is one safari that only conceirge guests of AKV can book and no one else. Anyone can book the grand gatherings one but it isn't as good as the one offered for conceirge guests only.

Since we are in a 1 bed can we take the breakfast back to the 1 bed in the morning and have breakfast on the balcony? Or do we have to eat the food in the lounge?

What are they going to do stop you, I doubt it. I don't believe there are any concierge police, just fellow guest worrying about how much you take.

Oh, and there's free booze, I'd enjoy it and get refills on the Amaretto.

Have fun

I have brought the offerings back to my room many times. In fact, the Poly concierge actually has trays and paper plates for travel... at least they did a few years back.

That said, it would be bad form to walk off with a tray piled high with food for a week. :smokin:

Thankyou for all your replies. I am not worrying so much about it now. I do want to try DDP and think these three nights are just long enough. Aftar all just because there is food there doesn't mean I have to eat it :rolleyes1 well lets get serious I will of course eat more than I should, but I have the other 15 nights to not eat so much !! : ;)

I thought about trying it when I got to OKW, but don't want to risk a move, by splitting the stay.

I am trying to talk DH into the Safari sunrise, but will haven't persauded him yet, anyone got any ideas?

Now I only have to fret about whether I get a SV or not :)
