Hi, I have been reading these boards for a couple of years while planning trips, and finally decided to post something!

We just got back from PO-R, and have decided for the next trip in late August that we want to go deluxe. We are a family of five with AP's and are trying to choose between the Poly (my 8yr ds's choice), Beach Club, and I'd kinda think AKL deluxe room. Ok., here's my question. My husband is a smoker, who doesn't smoke in the room (kids have asthma), since he can't smoke on the balcony, are there areas outside, not too far away where he can smoke without offending anyone.

I can't really think of any close areas to the deluxe savannah rooms where he could smoke. He may need to go out by the pool or to the front of the building by valet parking. Not sure if you can smoke in the savannah area on the back side of the resort.

I don't remember seeing any smoking areas at AKL, but I did see folks smoking while waiting for the busses.

I just looked on my AKL resort map and don't see ANY smoking areas marked. I would call the hotel directly and ask about this...Good luck!

I stayed there for my honeymoon and fell in love with the resort. It is amazing. DH and I are not smokers, so I don't know anything about the smoking areas of the resort.

I agree with johnsonet. I would call the resort directly (AKL: 1-407-938-3000) and ask. If smoking areas are very high on the priority list for your husband, AKL might not be a good choice.

But I don't think you can go wrong at the Poly or the Beach club. You can always take some time to visit AKL, see the animals, and have a fabulous meal at Boma or Jiko!

There are smoking areas posted by the doors to the pool area near Boma and Jiko. There is also smoking near the pool bar, and outside the lobby front doors. I believe there was even an ash tray just to the right of the front doors if you wanted out of the traffic pattern. I hope this helps! There might have been a few other areas, but I know these do exist!
