We will be Staying at AKL for 6 nights in July. We would love
any suggestions of things to not miss and things to avoid!

What is the best savannah view to request?

Is there a walkway between AKL and AK? If so, about how far is it?

Thanks,
Tybus

We just returned from AKL yesterday. We loved our room - #4417 on the Zebra trail. It was convenient to the restaurants, pool, and lobby and had a good savannah view. I think you would also be happy with one a little further down - in the 4500-4600 range.

You will take a bus to AK - and IMO, the bus service was great.

If you have young kids, there are many activities at AKL throughout the day, such as cookie decorating, games with the guides and storytelling. We participated in many of them and my 6 year old liked them all.

Don't miss Jiko and Boma. All the hype on these boards about these restaurants is right-on!

I really can not think of anything at AKL that you might want to avoid - we had a great experience there.

Nope, no walkway between AKL and AK. But the bus ride is short and sweet.
Plenty of stuff to do and see hear. Don't miss storytelling at the firepit. It is a truly enjoyable visit. Save time to just wander around and absorb the atmosphere. Even just sitting in the lobby is an enjoyable pasttime. Walk around to the different savannahs. Not all animals are on all the savannahs. We were on the Zebra Trail, rooms 2551 & 2553. It was very conveinent to the pool, restaurants and lobby. Saw plenty of different animals from our balcony. The pool is great. Nice slide, one side has zero depth entry. The jacuzzis were not crowded and kind of tucked away, very relaxing. On the back of the resort map you get will be a schedule of different activities offered at the resort thru out the day. Take advantage of whatever you can, they were lots of fun. Enjoy!

Welcome to the Dis! I'll be having my first stay at AKL in July too.:) I'll be there from July 17-24. Will you be around then?

Well, we really enjoyed wondering the different resort "trails" and finding the different animal viewing areas. Also go up to the "bridge" on the 5th floor it is a great view up there.

I am assuming you have a savannah view room booked. I would request a view of Arusha Rock. Just keep in mind it is only a request and might not be granted.

There is no walkway from the AKL to the AK. A quick bus ride.

We really enjoyed our two stays totaling 15 days at the AKL in 2001. Hope you have a great trip.

Happydays, Sharoncity, Tinkerbell, and Tiffany thank you very much for all of the information!

I was glad to hear that there is a lot to do at the resort! We have never been to the parks in the summer (always fall or winter) and I have a feeling the crowds will be unbearable from what I have read.

Have any of you done the sunrise safari? We have a five year old and he had a great time riding Kilimanjaro Safari the last time we were there. Do you think it would be okay to take him on the sunrise safari?

Thank you again for all of the information!
