AKL & WL Deluxe Rooms

Since we are family of 5 we'd need to get the deluxe rooms if we wanted to stay at the AKl or WL..is that correct? How are there rooms? Anyone have a pro/con's for both?

What is the rate you got for the deluxe rooms at these resorts? I would assume alot more than the standard..Thanks!

The rates at both are pretty high. We had extra adult charges on both so it added up fast. We paid $395 plus $50 extra for two more adults and then add in the tax, at the AKL deluxe room in 2001. Those deluxe rooms are just a bit bigger than the regular rooms and are all on top floors. We really liked the room a lot. We had an awesom sweeping view. Some people don't like being up on the top as you are farther away from the animals. I will sacrifice a bit so as not to have anyone above me.
At WL back in 97 we paid $325 for the deluxe room plus $25 for the extra adult. We are paying $400 in December of this year. This room is quite a bit bigger than the regular rooms. They used to be calle Junior Suites and there is a small living room with a pull out sofa, TV, Mini bar with sink and balcony. There are double french doors into the bedroom wich has a very small balcony, two queen beds and lots of windows.
For the price, you get more realestate at the WL but the view at the AKL is fantastic.

We have stayed in the deluxe savannah rooms with our family of five at the AKL twice now. Both times, the difference between the AP rate for the room and the concierge level was small enough to make it well worth our while for our family. I love the lounge - and at about $35/night difference - we would have spent that just on breakfast for our family!

With a family of five, you will get a room with 1 queen, 1 set of bunks, and 1 day bed. The day bed will comfortably sleep an adult size teen (think a twin bed size). The rooms are a little bigger than the regular savannah view rooms, and they also have a bigger balcony. You can see this when you look at the hotel. The rooms on the 5th floor are wider than those on the lower floors. While some people like the lower floor for the closer view of the animals - I liked looking down on the animals - they are a wonder to behold.
