First time at AKL, with hubby. We have booked a savannah room, king bed. Which floor is the best, any tips.

Hi Nicky! I have read quite a few reviews with conflicting info! Originally, I read that floors 4 and higher have the best views of the whole savannah, but the lower floors let you see the animals better (more upclose, I guess!).

So I have floor 4 on my ressies for January, but I think all floors have their perks!

I think it may be a matter of personal preference. When we were there in May we had a deluxe room so we were on the 5th floor. We had a great view of everything but I would like to try a lower floor next time to get a closer look at the animals (a little more eye to eye ). You can't go wrong with any room though in my opinion. This is my favorite resort. Enjoy your visit!!

Just returned from the AKL. We were displaced from the Poly for our last few days. Our room was on the 4th floor, Kudu trail. Our view of the animals was obstructed by tree tops. Unless the animals were directly in front of our balcony, we could not see them. I think a 3rd floor room would have offered better views. However, I also think that your view is going to depend on your particular room location. I would guess that some 4th floor rooms have very expansive views of the savannahs. Whatever floor, I'm sure that you will see the animals from your balcony, and there are many viewing areas throughout the resort. Just for your info, we noticed that the animals seemed to be most active around 4-5 p.m.

I stayed on the 3rd floor and loved it. The 3rd floor of AKL is lobby level so we never had to wait for an elevator or take the stairs (except when going to the pool and restaurants). This was my first time at AKL so I can't compare the views from other floors, but from the 3rd floor there was a nice view of the savannah, the animals really didn't come too close to my room, but I could see them perfectly almost all of the time. The giraffe's in particular always seemed to be at the same tree eating all the time.

We also just got back from AKL two days ago. Stayed on 3rd floor (lobby level) on larger Savanna and view was great. Saw zebras, giraffes, cattle, gemsbock, blesbock and lots more!
Thought it was a perfect height. We were on zebra trail and had a room at the end of the floor so area was pretty wide open.
We LOVED this resort, enjoy!
The pool is beautful and Boma Restaurant is superb.
