We are just getting started planning a trip to WDW with DS who will be just over 2 when we go (12/04). Am wondering whether we should plan for Poly or AKL and what about concierge?
I am new to the boards and appreciate any advice.

I prefer the AKL over the Poly...But, my kids are now 14 & 10. With a little one I would think the MK will probably be your main Park and therefore the ease of trips back to your room would definately favor the Poly.

Both are themed nicely, but the draw of the AKL is the animals. At 2, your child will not appreciate this (even though he may like seeing them). AKL is more subdued and really they attempt to make it a more quiet, serene if you will, environment. Noisy or unruly kids, for example, stand out (not in your son's age group though, obviously).

In the final analysis, either Resort will impress.

We stayed at both this summer... we like AKL but loved......loved...the poly ... all of us...my DH and my 2 DDs...who are 10 and 13...we would all agree....the poly is the best....amy

Poly fans, don't yell at me, but . . .
I 've been told the rooms are nice and big at the Poly, but when we visited the resort to eat dinner, I felt like I was in a 70's hotel. In my opinion, the lobby is dated (felt kind of Brady Bunch-ish). I'll admit that the grounds are beautiful and the monorail is convenient.

We love AKL. We visited all of the deluxe hotels and the newer ones just feel more elegant. AKL has a huge open lobby with amazing views. The restaurants are wonderful. I only have good things to say about their concierge service. The rooms are a little dark, but beautifully appointed. We can't wait to go back!

We just got back from the AKL on Sat. Aug 16th. Stayed Concierge, it is wonderful the whole resort is just amazing the concierge lounge is very good always something there to drink or munch on. There were alot of kids there when we were there alot of little ones under 5. I got the impression this is a kids resort. Just go to the pool.
Our room was fine I was able to read just fine at night they were a little dark but not bad at all.

We went to the Poly to eat at Ohanas, it also is a nice resort. Alot of kids there too. Our kids want to stay there next time, they liked the pool, (we walked around after dinner) the beach area is very nice also. Plus you can hop on the monorail anytime you want not just to go to the parks, you can ride around the loop if you like. We did 2 times!

I think anyone you choose you will be pleased with. Maybe split a stay between them.

I am not sure how long your trip is going to be but we had our first trip to WDW in May and we split our stay. It was a wonderful trip. We stayed our first three nights at AKL and the last four at POLY. We decided next time we will do the same!- no if and or buts about it!!! It was like two vacations in one. We felt like we had a good amount of time at each hotel. We just planned our park days according to where we were staying. If it is in your budget a savannah room is wonderful!! Your little one would love waking up to animals in the morning and the Poly with the monorail you can not beat that. Enjoy your trip!!( We did not want to leave! Nextime we are going to add a couple more days and that would be perfect!)
