Heading to wdw in a couple months. We have both a 1 bdrm and 2 bdrm villa booked using rented DVC points for 14 nights in Kidani Village. Just want to confirm the housekeeping and room items. It seems we get trash and towel service day 4 and 8. So would that repeat the following week then? Also if we wanted to have sheets changed are we washing them ourselves or do we have access to clean sheets upon request? Do we contact front desk or housekeeping for this? Also wondering about things like dish/dishwasher and laundry soap. Wondering if we need to bring our own or if that gets replenished or if we can ask for that as well as needed? I know things are different using DVC points but I find it difficult to find very much information about the rooms. Also as an aside are inflatable arm floaties for really little ones allowed in the pools there? Thank you for any insight.

Trash service is usually done daily, but don’t count on it. They should bring towels at day 4 and I think clean everything, change sheets etc… on day 8, I could be wrong. They are short on mousekeeping so things change. If you need more dish or laundry soap (some people bring pods from home) call front desk, same if you need more towels. Even cash resorts are not getting daily mousekeeping. Yes children can wear arm floaties, they do have 3 different sizes of life vests at the pools too.

When you need new sheets, more coffee, dishwasher or laundry detergent you should call housekeeping not the front desk (calling the 'front desk' goes to a call center and it can take awhile to process your request back to the resort). If the line is short you might want to stop by the front desk to let them know what you need.

We stayed 8 nights in a 2 bedroom at AKL in August and we did not have the day 4 cleaning like we normally do but they did do the day 8 cleaning. They came about every other day for trash. We bring clorox wipes to clean and we were aware of the labor shortage so we didn't make a fuss about the lack of cleaning according to the usual schedule. With a stay as long as yours, you may want to call housekeeping if they aren't keeping to schedule. If your stay is longer than 8 days then you cleanings should be day 4. day 8, day 12, etc.

We bring our own laundry pods. Since we are a family of 5 that normally stays for 2-3 weeks with split stays we pack lightly and do laundry. With the small washer capacity in DVC villas (the washers hold about half the capacity as my washer at home) we do about 2 loads of laundry a day. It doesn't help that my kids each bring a blanket from home and we wash those every few days.

Also, as an fyi if you aren't aware, the Kidani pool is closed through April but you can use the pool at Jambo.

My recollection is that pre-COVID you could request more dishwashing liquid for hand-washing dishes, dishwasher powder, toilet paper, paper towels and tissues. I was not aware that you could request more soap for the washing machines. Some people reported being able to do it, however. My way of thinking about it was, it's in Disney's best interest for you to clean your own dishes and clean up your own messes. They don't care if you have clean clothes.

Thank you so much for all the information. Everything sounds manageable. I was just in Hawaii for just over a week and there was no service at all so we just approached the housekeeper when she was doing check out rooms to request additional items. It really was no problem as I anticipate this will be as well. I think we may pack some Tide pods because there are 4 young children and laundry is likely the biggest issue. We be will contact housekeeping for anything else we might need. As we travel in May we are hoping the Kidani pool will be open, fingers crossed Disney sticks to their refurb schedule!

Our Jan stay, they came in everyday to take out the trash. Full clean came on day 4, i was a bit annoyed when I saw they weren’t wearing masks coming out of our room
