I was able to snag one for our upcoming April vacation:earsboy:. I know it's not guaranteed but do some have savannah views? Do all the amenities that come in a standard studio also come in the value? If any one has pictures of the room I'd love to see them. thanks!

The only differences between the a standard and value studio at AKL are:
they are three feet shorter that a standard.
the bed and couch are switched around (the bed is near the balcony and the couch is closer to the bathroom).

Yes some have savannah views, we had one with a savannah view when we stayed there 2 years ago, no difference than the view you would have used more points for (at Jambo house), have a great trip!

I think that applies only to those Value studios that have the connecting door in the living area. If the bed was in its usual spot, the connecting door would be directly across from it and there wouldn't be enough room to maneuver around the door when the studio was part of a 2BR lockoff. I think the rest of the studios, (those with the connecting door in the entryway,) have the usual layout with the bed near the bathroom and the couch next to the sliding door.

OP: One other difference between Value and non-Value studios is the storage space. Because the room is not as long as a non-Value studio, there is no storage bench. The bottom part of the dresser in all of the Jambo studios is used to store the pack and play leaving only half the usual amount of storage space in the dresser. The lack of a storage bench further reduces the storage space, leaving less room for clothes if you like to fully unpack.

Most of the Value studios face either the Sunset Savanna or the pool area. Two of them face the parking lot but there are lots of plants and trees that block the view of the lot.

I have to correct my previous post. I searched for photos of Value studios and found some where the bed and couch positions were swapped and the connecting door was NOT in the living area!

We had one in October, savannah view. It was perfect for two people. Not sure how many peeps the OP will have in the room. Storage space was somewhat limited, but we were only there for four nights so mostly just lived out of the suitcase. We did not miss the extra 3 feet of length in the room. We did not have the connecting door and had bed by balcony door. If I remember correctly, there was no bedside table on the balcony door side. If I had any complaints, there did not seem to be very many animals in sight on the Sunset side, it seemed like the naturalists were not placing as much browse down in the cul de sac this time. We actually saw a lot more in 2012 from our concierge room, even with the partial obstruction from the roof and higher vantage point.

We are a family of 4 (2 daughters 9 and 11). We will only be there 3 nights. It sleeps four people so we should be ok i hope!

When the AKV first opened with value studios and standard, I booked a split stay between the two styles specifically so that I could experience the difference. I have some photos which I'll post when I get home from work (inconsiderate here-they block photobucket!) JUst a word of warning about requests. I had a gorgeous savannah view once from a value studio. When I called nest time, the CM said they wouldn't take view requests, but I could request a specific room. So I requested it, with the addition "or room in that area". Instead, I got a room I think the room assigner chose specifically as the room the furthest away from that area as you could get. Oh, well-I still love value studios and think they're DVC's best value!

Location I saw of extra three feet "lost" in value studio-
