AKL Trip coming up but I am sad!!!!!

nutz4dzny my DD(8) is an only child also. I am already telling her she should look into places only within two hours from home, and telling my DH where ever she goes we go. Knowing her she probably goes to a university in Alaska. My neighbor's DD( also an only child) left home last year for University Of Maryland. Her mom was devastated. Her eyes were red for about two months. At Christmas time she moved back home. She hated being away and sharing her room and specially the bathroom. She transfered to Rutgars and is as happy as one can be.

One hour?? is that all? LOL ~ now you have me crying..!

Seriously, I am glad you are feeling better now... if this is the toughest problem on your plate in today's world ~ you my friend ~ are pretty darn lucky.

nutz4disney,

Thank you so much for the warm welcome! :D

I will be sure to post when he gets settled in!

I'm going to treat myself to two nights at the Swan ($99 rate) after I drop him off and before I fly home to help cheer me up a bit! :D

You've really pulled my heartstrings. Do you want me to send MY DAUGHTER down to help you through it? She's especially fun now that she's about six months pregnant!!!! :teeth: ;)

jennymouse - You are TOO funny! I remember your Posts about your daughter! I do hope things are going OK with her, now that the hormones are RAGING!!!! Thanks for the reply! You did make me smile.

;)

Okay, it sounds like Pete will have to modify the Dis boards to include Nutz4dzny's new job -- WDW resort babysitting!! ;)

Nutz4dzny, you'll have to let me know how many of your fellow Dis'ers used your "services" during this vacation. And since I know you take such great photos, I'll be expecting to see an on-line photo album of all the Dis kiddies who you watched.

Oh, this thread is so sweet! Isn't it great that we all love our kids so so so so much!!

Someone sorta smart once told me that my job as a parent was to "work myself out of a job"! :p

My dd left home a year ago and now she's back!! I guess she missed us! Her twentieth birthday is tomorrow and I'm so excited that I get to make her breakfast!! Luckily for us, college is only a 15 minute drive away. I know she's not here for long but I'm really enjoying it for now!

Im reading this crying I can kind of relate. My DS is`3 and starting preschool in sept. My DH & I were crying just last night its scary to leave your baby with total strangers. I'll the psycho mother they have to peel off the window on the door , of course this after I've obtained everyone in the school's fingerprints lol. I guess no matter how old they are they'll always be your baby. Hope you enjoy your trip. We'll be going to the f & w in Nov so I'll offer to loan my 3 DS ( 3 and 9 mos old twins) for a few hours of testosterone overload.

We took our baby boy to college yesterday!! Today was the first day in our home without him. I've been wandering around the house all day today thinking that I KNEW this day would come, I guess I just didn't BELIEVE it. Where did the years go????????
But our joy was watching him meet his roommates, find his dorm and room, put out all the junk we'd bought that he kept insisting he didn't need (but was obviously relieved that Mom had thought of), stocked his kitchen and bathroom, etc. I told him I had seen several cute girls and he informed me he had already met one while he was waiting in the checking in line AND that she lives in his dorm! I think he's going to be alright.

Well, I know there is nothing I can say that will keep you from your tears but I will say that you must have a remarkable relationship with your son that he would want to spend his last week before college with his parents at WDW. We also have an only child and I cried when he went off to college, then again when he went off to medical school and again when he went off to his residency program. But throughout all those years of schooling we fit lots of trips to WDW in as a family being joined by his beautiful wife. Now when we go we relive his childhood with two beautiful grandchildren. The tears are outnumbered by the joys of seeing our kids grow up and they return all of the love we gave them over the years by wanting to be with us and share their beautiful babies with us. You are blessed to have such a great relationship with him and your time with him lies ahead of you -- not behind you. You will see a remarkable change in him in the years to come but that little boy you have loved so long will always still be there.
