AKL - transfer question

I have reservations set up for next Easter, April 6 - April 14 at my home resort of SSR! I know all the issues about Easter, but it's our favorite time to go so no lectures please on how busy it's going to be.

My question is we have stayed at SSR our last few trips, and although we LOVE the place we really want to try to get into AKL. If I call the day my 7 month window opens, what are my chances of getting a 2BR standard and studio standard view room? Also, especially since I am doing two rooms, I don't want to mess up the reservation I already have, so if all of the nights are not available is it worth it to waitlist? This won't screw up my existing reservations, will it? Anyone have any thoughts?

AKV is a large resort, I am sure that you will find something at either Jambo or Kidani.

Your chances are likely somewhat low. True AKV is a large resort, but it is Easter time, one of the highest demand times of the year. The last time I called for Easter time 7 months out was before BLT and AKV and was seeking 7 nights in a 2BR and learned there was nothing but a weekend night or two avaialble at BWV, BCV, and VWL, four nights but only three sequential at OKW, and there was availability at SSR. You also want standard view which is less than 20% of all rooms, you want both a 2BR and a studio, and you want them for eight nights, which length makes the chance of not getting rooms for all nights much higher than if you were only trying for a few nights. Of course, you will not know until you try. I would not do wait list if you can only get some of the nights because that is a time of year when wait lists are less probable to come through. You could do a full wait list where you get switched to AKV from SSR only if all nights become available

You don't have to cancel your SSR resservation before learning whether you can get AKV and thus you won't lose your current reservation just for making the request for AKV availability at 7 months. If you can actually get what you want, then on same call you cancel SSR and book AKV.
