AKL to Polynesian or Contemporary

To go from Animal Kingdom Lodge to the Polynesian or Contemporary hotel, would you take a bus to Magic Kingdom, then take the monorail or is there a bus from AKL to the Ticket & Transportation Center as well?

Bus from AKL to MK and then on the monorail. You can also take the boat from the dock in front of the MK to Poly or you can actually walk from the bus stop to the Contemporary.
