Can we do Sunrise Safari if we are staying at AKV? It comes up on the page, so I thought we could, but then it says club level only. Is this also open to DVC?

I'm pretty sure that eligibility reverted back to CL guests only.

Oh really? That's sad :sad1:, I hadn't the opportunity to do it and was looking forward it for a future stay.
Wasn't it successful or too much successful?

The Sunrise Safari is currently open to DVC Members that are not staying CL through 10/19/2014. You have to call MS to book and payment in full is due at the time of booking.

Well, trying to book it...I've been transferred 3 times and now got a voicemail. Maybe I should call member services? I don't have that much time in the morning...

I am staying AKV in Jambo and am doing sunrise safari on Aug 28th... we are not CL, just DVC.

WDWMagic.com is reporting that the Sunrise Safari will be discontinued on 12/28/2014.

The Sunrise Safari tour at Disney's Animal Kingdom will be ending on December 28 2014.

The tour, which is offered to concierge guests staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, takes guests on an adventure through both Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park. The 2.5 hour tour costs $75 for adults and $40 for children, which includes a breakfast buffet at Pizzafari in the park.

If you are staying as a concierge level guest at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, you can book the tour through the converge desk.

:confused3 a shame, it really was a wonderful experience and gave true value for the $ imo.
It may be due to something other than popularity. With the harambe nights testing the potential pull of AK as an evening attraction, and the march toward Avatarland, there may be animal scheduling concerns. If the animals will be available late into the evening, they probably want to let them "sleep in" as much as possible.

Thanks, makes sense.

I also called but we are DVC only and they wouldn't reserve after Oct 28th, and doubted that they would extend past that date, even though they are canceling the tour at the end of the year :(

I will book the nighttime safari instead! Also disappointed that I told my DGD that I would take her on the Wild Africa Trek when she turned 8, and noticed they moved age up to 9 now....

Just to clarify, you're staying at AKV, right? I've read reports of DVC members booking after the 10/28 date, but you do have to be staying at AKV to book it.

I am staying on points in Jambo hose, and the cast member was very firm and refused to book. Should I call member services instead since I have to book the night safari through them. Hummm I'll give it a try!

If you are not staying Concierge Level, you would be subject to the member booking cutoff date.
