Melissa, I already responded to your PM but thought I would add a little more info here.
Here is the link to the map of the AKL that is on the

The two-bedroom suite that I stayed in was on the 5th floor. It overlooked what I call the backside of the resort (the side that does not face Arusha Rock). It was on Zebra Trail. It had the best balcony that I have ever experienced at a WDW resort -- huge, semicircular, and with a thatched roof (talk about unique -- I felt like I was actually staying in a hut out on safari somewhere).
The one-bedroom suite that I stayed in was on the 3rd floor of Kudu Trail. It, too, overlooked what I call the backside of the resort (the side that does not face Arusha Rock). It had a long, straight balcony that I loved. It was a wonderful place to view the animals from, or to relax on while sipping an ice cold drink.
Both of those suites gave me excellent views of all sorts of animals. My favorite animals at the AKL are the giraffes, and I viewed lots of giraffes from both of those balconies (I think there were five giraffes total and I got to see 'em all).
Was it worth the extra money to stay in a suite? For me, yes. Suites at WDW are lovely and beautifully decorated. I especially adored the suites at the AKL because they were so earthy and made me feel all safe & warm. Such a lovely, relaxing feeling at a gloriously relaxing resort. Don't think twice about the suite that you have reserved. I am sure you will enjoy it. And Happy (early) Anniversary!
