I want to add an additional night onto the front end of an existing reservation I have at the Coronado, but there is no room at the Coronado for that night available.

I would like to stay at the same resort the whole time. not do one night somewhere and then the rest of my stay at another resort.

There is a standard view room at Animal Kingdom Lodge for my entire stay, including the additional night I want to add, but of course it's a bit more $$.

Any opnions on standard view at AKL? The pool at Coronado looked really cool, expecially for my kids. How is the pool(s) at AKL? Anything exciting about them that kids would enjoy? What about other neat things at AKL that kids would get a kick out of by staing there? (Kids are 8, 6, 3)

I've never been to the Coronado Springs, however, I think you'd love AKL (just my opinion). There is a huge pool with slide, and at times, you can see Giraffe from the pool. There is a large playground behind the pool as well. Inside, there are many fun places for kids to explore, and they have nightly storytelling around the fire pit. Simba's clubhouse is the organized babysitting for children. You don't need a "Savannah" view to enjoy the AKL...we had one, and as nice as it was, we saw animals from every corner of this resort, it wouldn't have taken anything away if I had a view of the parking lot.

I've been to CSR and I love CSR but would take the AKL if money was not an issue. You can't compare a mod to a deluxe resort.

I cannot praise AKL enough. We stayed there for the first time in May and fell in love with it. We also had standard view rooms and they were not bad at all. We were on the Ostrich Trail and it seemed much quieter than the Giraffe Trail seemed to be. Our rooms were lobby level {3rd floor} by the handicap parking area. We would not hesitate to stay in these rooms again. There are plenty of viewing areas for animals throughout the lodge and the pool is magnificent. Your kids will love it. The food court style restaurant is called The Mara and it is wonderful. Many selections of food that would please the appetite of any age. Try AKL. I know your family will have a great time there.

If you can swing it, I would go for AKL. There is no comparison. Coronados pool and playground is very nice. However you can not compare the rooms there to AKL , (imho) The AKl pool is fabulous. Where else can you be in a pool and see Girraffes? The lobby is spectacular. Plenty of choices in the food court. And don't forget bellman, valets, room service all those things that come with a deluxe resort. A central lobby no outdoor walkways to your room or walking FAR to the food court area. We went to CSR in May, I stayed one night called CRO from the room and switched to AKL. I missed it so much!

Hi - I have stayed at both and if you can afford it I would go with the AKL. It is great for all of the reasons that have been mentioned by others. Hope you and you family have a magical vacation.

To answer YOUR question, the AKL pool has a kid's playground area bigger than the dig site area at CSR. If kids love animals, it is a no brainer.
You will have fun no matter which you choose.
My guarantee.

My two favorite resorts!!!! What a dilemma. If you can swing it $$$wise, go for AKL. There is nothing like it!!!

I am getting happier by the day!!!
Can you tell why?:wizard:

We have done both, and without a doubt AKL!! If you can swing it. I often read too how AKL is pretty generous with upgrades, spo you may just snag a savannah view. My kids loved both pools, but I found AKL a little more relaxing.
