AKL standard room

Is it true that the standard rooms at AKL do not have any views of the pool or have bunk beds in any of them? And either one of those requests is an extra cost and can not be added to a standard room ressie without making a new reservation?

We stayed in a standard room with bunk beds. It faced the bus stops and was two rooms from the end of the Giraffe hall on the fourth floor. Great room btw, as it was close but not next to an elevator and stairs, so a quick trip to the pool and the food venues.

We had a standard view room with bunk beds in 2004. It overlooked the parking lot (and a lovely parking lot it is). Like the PP, we found the location within the hotel couldn't have been better. The standard view rooms are all very close to the lobby.

You are correct, pool view and / or bunkbeds are an extra cost. Years ago, you could get bunkbeds in a standard room but they got really popularas many guests requested them (myself included), so Disney saw a way to make a little extra money and charge for them. Good thing about charging though is you are guaranteed to have them where as before it was a request and you may or may not have gotten them. Pool view has always been a higher priced room though I believe. What we always did was book standard and hope for an upgrade. The view to us isn't that important.
