AKL - Savannah View????

We were planning on SSR for our Nov 2010 trip. Then I was thinking about changing it to OKW (I love OKW!) But then I thought the kids would like AKL with the Savannah view room. But what exactly is the "view"?
What do you see....are the animals noisy.....does it smell?

Your opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I've stayed both at the Jambo House and Kidani Village and had Savannah views at both. To answer your questions to the best of my knowledge:

1. Savannah view rooms face one of the Savannah's. I'm not sure of all the names but the ones I was on was Uzima (Jambo House) and the Sunrise I think (Kidani Village).
2. Depending on which Savannah your room is on, will depend on the type of animals you will see. I'm not sure if you can request a certain Savannah or not.
3. Animals are not noisy, nor does it smell. I went during September (one of the hottest months in FL) and in December. Both times, it was quite and no smells at all. As an FYI, I noticed the animals were not out until after 9a every morning, so you won't be disturbed in the am.

If I had kids AKV would be the place to stay. Actually, it is now my favorite resort, OKW being my second favorite.

Actually the animals are out on the savanna all day and all night except for about 2 hours a day. They call the animals into the barn for a couple of hours each morning. They are fed their most nutritious meal of the day at that time (that's how they get them to come when they're called!) and are checked over by the animal care team. While they are in the barn, the savannas are cleaned. Even though you may have a small herd sleeping right under your balcony, it's never noisy on the savanna. I've never noticed any bad smells either.

It was very quiet and very clean, I even went down to the lobby at 5a.m. and out on the main viewing area at Kidani to watch the sun come up....wonderful. It is even interesting to see them but out the special foods and leaves for the animals to eat. We were able to see folks on a private safari slowly moving around. My DH can't wait to get back this Dec and visit "his pets". We again have booked 2 SV studios we had such a terrific time.

You can see the rest of the resort across the savannah. You could see a few people out on their balcony but every one was very quiet. We had a herd of 5-6 cattle with long horns of our balcony. They stayed in the area most of the time, day and night. Once the Giraffes got close, as well as ostrich and cranes (the cranes make a loud whoop whoop cry...but only a few times a day...not enough to even notice really). The zebras seemed to roam in a different area and at times were too far off to see from the room. Guys would come out and actually plant long grasses and then you could see the animals flock to those areas. I can't tell you how very nice it was--you will just have to trust me on this.
