Hi everyone,

I am currently looking at two hotels for a birthday trip to Disney in November. The two hotels that have been mentioned have always been at the top of my list to stay. I currently have the choice of staying in a savannah view room at AK or a theme park view at the contemporary. I was just wondering what would be the best choice? they are currently around the same price for both hotels.

thanks!

It probably depends on what you plan to do outside of the resort. If you're going to be visiting MK a few times, you cannot beat the location of CR. But if you're doing all the parks, it would be AKL Savanna view for us. You just cannot beat the peaceful resort experience of staying in a room like that.

I probably should have mentioned , apologies! I will be visiting all the theme parks but will usually be going to HS/Mk for the most part And do like to go back to the hotel during the day for rest as we tend to ”rope drop” the parks. But being big animal lovers AKL has always tempted us.

Surprised they are the same price. I would either do a split stay or CR. The bus ride from MK to AKL is long.

If you love animals, you can’t really beat looking out onto a savannah! TP view is great mainly for fireworks but the Savannah will offer views / different views all day long

Could you do a split stay and try out both?
What a fun birthday visit that would be!

We loved AKL savannah view. So relaxing and beautiful.

Would you be in your room to see fireworks?
Or would you be in the parks during that time?
That’s an expensive room!
I’m also surprised they are close in price.

Honestly, since they are close in price and the CR TPV is usually so expensive, I’d stay there I guess. It’s usually much more expensive than AKL SV.

Sounds like a great trip either way!

If your love of animals trumps everything else, then go with AK. Otherwise, I would always pick CR for the location. I love the MK area. It feels so much more Disney to me. 🙂

We will be hopefully trying to go to mickeys Christmas party if it’s available when we go.But usually in the hotel for the evenings. Doing a split stay sounds very tempting!

Many thanks for everyone’s input. Has been helpful. I think i Am slightly leaning towards AKL . How do you find using the busses for the parks? Only thing I’m a bit worried about is the food options for AKL as it seems a bit far from most places.

Well, there will be many opinions on it, but over the years we've come to the conclusion that we find the dining options at AKL to be the best on property. The buffet at Boma, the food and scenery at Sanaa, the fine dining at Jiko, and the CS of The Mara - all among our favorites. But that will only matter to you if you like the food and selections! You should definitely look at the menus online. And they also have one of the most unique gift shops on property with Zawadi (at Jambo House).

As for the buses, they are no worse and no better than other resorts. There are 2 internal stops, one at Jambo and one at Kidani. The only "long" bus ride is to MK, which is why I asked earlier what your park plans are. If you plan to do all the parks, the busing from AKL is similar to busing from CR. It's probably a 15 minute bus ride from AKL to MK. But on the other side, it's a 15 minute bus ride from CR to AK. Good luck with your decision. The really good news - you don't have a bad option! Both are really nice.....
