If we plan to check in on a Sunday and check out on Thursday, could we do the Sunrise Safari that day of check in? Even though we haven't checked in yet? Or, I guess if we're there, we could check in - knowing the room would most likely not be ready.

They do the Sunrise Safari on Sundays and Thursdays, right? I'd much rather experience it on the front end of our stay than on the last day of our stay. The kids would get so much more out of the week, don't you think?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The Sunrise Safari is offered on Sundays and Thursdays as you mentioned. The information that was sent to us from the IPO at AKV says that it either starts at 6:30am (when the AK park opens at 8am) or 7:30am (when the park opens at 9am). They also said that you have to meet at the concierge desk at either 6:15am or 6:45am (again depending on park opening time). Even though you are checking in on Sunday, will you be at the resort as early as 6:15am (actually earlier if you want to check-in in time to meet the staff for the safari)??

You don't mention whether you are staying in a concierge villa but those are the only guests (AKV or AKL) that can book the Sunrise safari (almost 100% sure). If you are staying CL, contact the IPO and ask - it might be better to do it early on your check-out day depending on when you need to leave for home.

My advice is to book it when it is convenient for you and don't overdo yourself. So, the Thursday timeframe seems best for you to me.

Remember, if you are a DVC member, then you will have many many many more years of fun at WDW, so you can afford to take it easy.

Has anyone done the Wanyama dinner? That's available to anyone in the villas, and looks interesting. (Expensive, but interesting.)

I agree! Much easier to do the Sunrise Safari on check-out day. I would only ever consider doing it on check-in day if that was my ONLY option! (You have to get checked in first so that will be a very early morning for your family!!) :)
