AKL Room

We are staying at AKL-Sav View for three days next wk - this is our first visit and my 10+11 yr old, and wife, think we are staying at All-Star, so it should be a nice surprise.

I am looking for any recommended rooms to request..of course, the view of the animals is impt; would also like to be near lobby/pool if possible, but view is most impt.

We called and requested a room near the lobby,3rd floor with an inside Savannah view. I have heard this is the best area. Also It depends on what kind of animals you want to see.
There is Kudo trail and zebra trail that are supposed to be good. BUT...you have to get the inner circle to get the best view of the animals. This is what i have been told.

We've stayed at AKL in sept 2003 ans we are headed back in Dec 2004. I would suggest a room on the Zebra trail, rooms 3423-3437, or 3501-3515. Those rooms have a great view of the savannah, aren't far from the lobby, and hop on the elevater and you are at the pool and Mara!

My favorite savannah happens not to be the inner circle, but the Uzima savannah. Even if you are at the end of the trail (Zebra Trail) you'll end up with a short cut to the pool area/Mara. I love to visit the arusha savannah, but stay on Uzima. Part of this does have to do with being there on our first trip and wanting to see the how the animals all grew and changed! I grew very attached to the ankole family and I've "needed" to be on their savannah ever since! Then again, I'd be happy in the hall closet if I could get away with it full time! You'll have a fabulous time at the resort!

we had a room that overlooked the side savannah nn the Kudo trail. looking at the map it's not the savannah with birds pictured, but the one above that which appears empty.

We saw lots of animals in there - loads of giraffes, but plenty of other stuff too. We had only booked a standard room, so were delighted to have any sort of savannah view, but I can't see how this was any worse than any other view - we saw plenty.

I would request a view of the "Arusha Savanna", "Zebra Trail". The Arusha Savanna in my opinion is the best and the Zebra Trail gives you close access to the pool and food court.
