Hello :goodvibes
I posted on another thread about this, but did not receive any response, so thought I'd throw it out to the general population for their thoughts!

I am staying Club Level at AKl in August with my son. I wanted to book us both a massage, but they say that under 18, kids have to have an adult present during the massage. (He's 14)....I was going to book a 50 min for me and a 25 min for him, but now have decided just to book myself and he'll have to occupy himself in the pool while I am in the spa (at AKL)

I am wondering....Has anyone had the massage at AKL?? or any other resort?is it worth the price and time to schedule this into our vacation? I was planning it for our MK day since we have been to WDW twice before, and we are not really into the "little kid" rides like dumbo, pooh, aladin's carpet ride, etc... we can probably do MK quickly after breakfast (having breakfast at 8:30 am, Kona cafe). Then was thinking of heading to the resort for a break in the afternoon (massage is booked for 3:30) then heading over to Fort Wilderness for the 7:15 Hoop De Doo dinner show. Do you think the massage experience is something I should keep in my itinerary?? I have always wanted to try a massage at WDW and this is the only day/time we could fit it in!

If you've experienced this service, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I get a massage every trip (also get them at home every three months). I've had them done at the CSR as well as the GF. If you go to the Grand Floridian for the massage and want your son to have one, this is what I had to do with my son's "then" girlfriend on his high school graduation trip: because she was only 17 at the time (and you ahve to be 18 as you were told), we booked it at the same time and they opened the doors between two rooms so that we were both getting the massage at the same time and I could see Brandi. I would assume they still do this.

dh had a massage at AKL but his back was "out" and he was in such severe pain beforehand (and during, and after) that he can't give an opinion either way.

one thing i noticed from your post is that you're planning on doing MK quickly but presumably arriving probably 10-ish after your breakfast. i realize you are going in oct (? right?), but even in the "slow" season MK can get crazy. we were just there last week... 4's and 5's were predicted by UG for crowd levels... and by 9:30 am there were 40 min waits for rides like peter pan, BTMRR, etc. we were very surprised, and we were definitely visiting on TGM's "best days." just wanted to mention that, because MK might take longer to get through than you're planning. we realized if we got there right around 9, we were ok and got to ride a few things in succession with no waits, but by 10, things were getting hairy.

I've had the massage at AKL and thought it was worth the time and expense. Since it's not a full spa the price for a massage is cheaper there than at the full spas like at GF and SSR.

I would love to do this, I get one or two a month and that would be nice on our trip. Any one know how much?.

Thank you for the reply :goodvibes I really appreciate your insight. I just wanted to point out that actually, we are going in August....August 21-26th.
It is just my 14yo son and myself. We have been 2 times with our family and done all the MK things before, so this time, we will be only focused on trying the things we really like (such as Splash mtn, BTM, the re-furbed space mtn, Phillimargic (sp?), Maybe Peter Pan's flight. We don't have to "Do it all" as we have experienced all of MK previously. My 14 yo has said he does not really want to do much at MK, as he feels it is geared more to "babies" and little kids :rotfl:....I am just going to go with the flow :)
I was thinking we'd tour from around 10am-2pm that day and then head back to the resort for the rest/massage/swim and then head back for Hoop De Doo, even if it means taking a taxi that evening to make the dinner show on time.
That's the plan, anyway :goodvibes
